Gaming PC- AMD
73errr but y AMD ?
As we know, Core i7 is the faster there is, but is also very costly. Many people can not afford it. I really think that AMD's Phenoms are a lot better pick over the core 2 quads/Core 2 duo. Here I will try to build a gaming PC on a low budget of Rs35,000/$600.
Processor : AMD Phenom 2 720X3
This is a very good processor. It has 3 cores, clocked at 2.8GHz and has an unlocked multiplier. It has 1.5Mb L2 cache and 6MB of L3 cache. There is always that chance of unlocking that extra core on this (if paired with the right motherboard). For a price of Rs 7500 or $119 its a bargain.
Motherboard: Biostar TA790GBXE
This motherboard has all the essential features that you would need on a gaming PC. Its still early days for DDR3, it does not give any real performance benefits so we will stick to DDR2 for now. This motherboard has 1 PCIe X16 slot, 2 PCIe X1 slot, 3 PCI slots. It supports up to 16GB RAM.It supports RAID and has ACC . This board costs Rs4,500/$90 and is great for the features it has.
Graphics card: PowerColor ATI 4850 512MB
This card is still very good for gaming. It can play most of the games at highest settings and at only $100/Rs6800 its the best card at this price range. This card comes with a nice aftermarket cooler too.
Memory: 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800MHz
4GB (2x2) DDR2 800Mhz should meet most of our needs. This RAM is good quality and pretty cheap. For Rs2800/$50, its a good buy. It has some "heatsinks", that are not that great, but you can always remove them and put new ones.
Hard Drives: WD Caviar blue 500GB
500GB should be enough for most. This hard drive is pretty cheap and does the job. It costs Rs3,000/$50.
Case: Coolermaster RC690
This is a very good case. Has good air flow and nice looks at a pretty good price of Rs4500/$70. It comes with 3 120mm fans (front, back, side) and has a nice front gril.
PSU: Corsair 450VX 450W PSU
Its got an active PFC and is 80+ certified. It should supply enough power to your PC and is priced at Rs3600/$75. It has pretty long cables, hence it would be easier to route the cables neatly. Corsair PSUs are always good and this one is no exception.
Optical drive: Samsung 22X DVD burner
These days optical drives are very cheap. Bluray drives are still very costly and so we will stick to this. At just Rs1,100/$25, you can pick up one or 2 of these.
The total comes to around Rs34,000/$570. You still need a keyboard, mouse, speakers and a monitor. I will recommend a 22" monitor with 1680x1050 resolution. For full HD resolutions, its better to get the 1GB version of the card.
