It is better to get organized with dependable garden lawn care during the early part of the year. Living things need time to acclimatize themselves in every new environment, so taking care of your own before the sweltering heat of summer approaches is the best step you can take for its survival.

Elements of Effective Garden Lawn Care

There are basically four (4) elements that call for effective garden lawn care. First is the watering aspect. The idea is to dampen the soil about four to six inches deep but to avoid over-watering. Doing so would erode the soil of nutrients valuable to the grass.

A simple test can be done to check if your grass needs water. When you step on it and lift your foot, the grass should maintain its elasticity. Otherwise it is time to water.

Regular trimming of grass is the second element of garden lawn care. Not only will it make your yard tidy, it will also maintain its attractive appeal. A lawn mower or a special edger can effectively handle this job.

The third element in garden lawn care is scarifying. This is the act of extracting thatch and other decaying matter from your lawn. This garden lawn care aspect has always been forgotten because it is only done twice in a year - during springtime and autumn.

Lawn mowing is the fourth basic element in garden lawn care. There are several points to consider when mowing. For one, the blades of the lawn mower should always be kept sharp in order to give your grass a good, clean cut. Dull blades can damage the grass, making it susceptible to infection.

When mowing, the grass must be dry to enable an even cut. Also, the lawn mower should be adjusted to the appropriate cutting height setting which is not more than one third.

The gasoline in the lawn mower has an impact on garden lawn care. It should be unleaded and not be more than a month old at the time of use. When operating the lawn mower, it is safer to use wide turns instead of sharp ones to avoid over-trimming patches of your lawn.

Maintaining your lawn mower is also a must in garden lawn care. In order to maximize functionality, you should periodically clean not only the blades but also the deck and the underside. The mowing patter should likewise be replaced every once in a while to keep your grass from getting dull.
