Today's stepping stones for your garden are not like your Grandma's stepping stones. In Grandma's garden you jumped from one flat rock to another to keep your feet from getting wet and muddy.

Garden stepping stones today may serve the same purpose but they also provide a decorative touch, a colorful splash or a moment to pause and ponder the writing on the stone. They can even light your way through the garden. Their composition can be the typical concrete. Some are made of rubber, or stained glass, or cast iron or plastic. The array of materials and designs are mind-boggling.

You may decide to follow a theme for your garden. Maybe you want to place the stones randomly throughout your garden with no set pattern in mind. Different areas of your garden could reflect a variety of moods depending on the stones you choose.

Whatever the mood you want to create, there's sure to be an appropriate stepping stone.

 What a nice way to honor the memory of someone you loved who has gone before you.  Take a small area of your garden and create a serene setting.  It doesn't have to be somber.  It can be colorful with perhaps a small bench and a protected area where you can take a moment and meditate.

 The people who serve in the United States military deserve our prayers and support.  If you have a son, daughter, spouse or any relative or friend who's working to preserve our freedom, you can proudly display the branch of the service he or she has chosen.

Imagine how pleased the military person will be to hear that you've voluntarily placed a stone in your garden to commemorate that person's service.  And if that individual sees what you've done, he or she will be grateful all over again.

For someone in the military who has made the ultimate sacrifice, that person will know you have not forgotten. 

Do you root for a team that you are absolutely rabid about?

Do you know the names of all the players and all the statistics for each player?

Is your favorite sports team a pro team or a college team?

Is the highlight of your week when your favorite team is playing?

Would you almost give up your first born to have box seats to all their games, home and away?
