Garlic, The Natural Antibiotic

The time for sickness is here. The pharmacies are packed, and the doctors are full. As you begin to calculate the costs of doctor visits and prescriptions you wonder, "Is there a better way?"

I too found myself racking up hundreds of dollars in medical bills, treating recurrent infections, and spending a lot of money on antibiotics. Finally, I found a way to treat myself and to better my health in general.

I had heard that garlic was nature's antibiotic, but like anyone else, I was skeptical at first; until I got a urinary tract infection and couldn't afford another doctor bill. I went to my local pharmacy, paid about five bucks for a bottle of garlic, and downed it like candy. I was amazed at the results. In approximately twenty-four hours, I was totally pain free. From then on I was hooked. I have used it several times since to treat various infections and sicknesses, and it is even safe to give to my children.

What is it about garlic that causes it to bring about these great benefits? Well, when a garlic bulb is crushed, it produces allicin. Allicin is a natural antibiotic and anti-fungal. This is the substance that fights against sickness, infections, and fungus.

When allicin is produced by crushing the garlic bulb, its effectiveness immediately begins to deteriorate. Cooked garlic provides little or no medicinal value. This is why that you must use fresh garlic immediately and in the raw form in order to benefit.

Now, many supplement manufacturers have found a way to process the garlic and still retain the allicin, thus preserving its medicinal benefits. This is obviously the way to go if you want to get to the root of a problem fast (and you don't want bad breath).

Start by taking several capsules a day and increase the amount if you don't get the relief you need. I have taken as many as 30 or more softgels a day when I was desperate. I'm not saying that I necessarily advise taking this many, this is just what I have done. And buddy, it took care of it. It may be a good idea to keep taking the garlic for a few days even after the pain is gone, just to make sure that the bacteria is out of your system.

IMPORTANT: After taking garlic, or any antibiotic for that matter, it is very important to take a probiotic formula to replenish the friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract. Antibiotics unfortunately don't just go after the "bad guys." They are there to kill bacteria, whether it's good or bad. Since some bacteria is necessary, such as acidophilus and it's relatives, it's up to you to replenish this friendly flora so you won't run into problems later. If this is ignored, you will likely get candida (yeast) overgrowth. This will result in yeast infections and other health problems which you will need an antibiotic. And thus, the vicious cycle begins. This is why many adults and children alike run to the doctor over and over fighting the same old problems. This frustrating cycle could have been eliminated if only probiotics were taken after the antibiotics. Too often, doctors never tell this to their patients so the population for the most part remains uninformed.

Not only is garlic excellent as an antibiotic, but it has a host of other benefits as well. It's very beneficial to the cardiovascular system and is a great system cleanser. Studies have shown the benefits of garlic when dealing with blood pressure problems, and high triglycerides. Garlic has even been used in the treatment and prevention of cancer.

So what do we have to lose? Stock up on this powerful wonder supplement/food and live healthier today!

Don't forget to get the probiotics too!

Thanks, sis.  You know I love garlic, whether as a supplement or to eat. The other night I made chili and I usually cut up a fresh onion to add, but this time I though I'd cheat. I grabbed what I thought was the dried, chopped onion out of my spice cabinet and shook a bunch into my chili. Then, I saw it was the dried chopped garlic! That was the most garlicky chili that I've ever eaten. It was almost too garlicky! (Almost).

I'm partial to you hubs too.  As a matter of fact, I think your a pretty nifty person all and all!

I totally agree about the Garlic. I didn't realize that garlic would have an effect on friendly bacteria. I always take acidophilus anyway, but good to know.

I make a winter tonic with this and other roots. Very tasty. I also give granulated garlic to my horses often. It especially helps keep the fly count down in summer, and gives them that extra boost of immunity in winter. Great information! Thanks!

I love the smell of garlic while cooking. I put lots of minced garlic with almost all the dishes that I serve my family. Good thing, these also have medicinal value. Thanks for sharing!

Garlic is a good natural antibiotic, but hard for a lot of people to eat enough of to do a lot of good. I reviewed some natural antibiotics at http://www.squidoo.com/naturalantibiotics

intheflow : As you may not have noticed in my article, you don't have to eat a lot of garlic, just take garlic supplements. If you have an infection take large quantities of the supplements and follow with probiotics or eat yogurt.
