Garmin 760 Portable GPS

With more people wanting and using a GPS (Global Positioning System) in their car, more people are looking to maximize the capabilities of their electronic needs into one place. If you are considering the Garmin nuvi 760 GPS system, you can't go wrong.

This little GPS system has so many features packed into it that you wouldn't believe and for the price, you really won't believe it.  With a weight of just 6.2 ounces (190g), it is also light enough for you to slip it in your pocket and not realize you are carrying it.  It also comes with a USB cable and the car windshield mount (suction cup style).

Let's take a look at some of the features, benefits and accessories for the Garmin 760 GPS for your life.

Highlights of the Features of the Garmin 760 GPS

While many GPS systems for your car provide directions, quite a few of them have issues with reliable directions and points of interest being wrong or poorly updated. The Garmin 760 comes preloaded with one of the better mapping and directional systems, the City Navigator(R) North America version, which includes Canada and Puerto Rico. You will also know the speed limit for each street that you are on with the built in speed limit listings on each roadway being shown.

Its 4.3 inch (diagonal) touch screen display provides a crisp and clear image at 480 x 272 pixels. The average battery life is around 5 hours, which is pretty good for a unit that provides the features that this has in it.

With Bluetooth(R) functionality, you won't have to worry about being caught using your cell phone. More states are banning cell phone usage while driving, so the bluetooth functionality will work with your cell phone, as long as it has bluetooth and you have the necessary wire to connect.

Another great feature is MP3 and jpeg image storage and playback for this unit.  There are many great features to this garmin handheld gps unit that you will sure love it!

Customer Reviews

These are exerpts of actual customer reviews of this unit.  While it is good to post positive reviews, I am also posting some of the negative here as well.  I think everyone should have a well informed decision about other peoples experiences before buying.

I am amazed at how quickly the 760 acquires Satellites. When I did the software/firmware update it installed SiRF Star III Quick Fix. This allows the 760 to acquire satellites very quickly. So far every time the unit has been off to powered on it has acquired satellites as soon as it is booted up. Total time from off to "Ready to Navigate" is about 30 seconds.

I'm a professional photographer that travels alot and I bought the 760 last weekend and I have been using it for about a week. I love this product and I haven't had any problems. It only takes me about 30 seconds to plug in an address and I'm on my way. The blue tooth feature works great and the I don't have any sound issues like the others have complained of. The FM reciever is also wonderful and the unit gets me around high traffic areas in Atlanta. The only thing I have not tried is the sound through the speakers in my car. Overall this unit is great and I couldn't ask for more from this divice.

I have borrowed a friend's GPS for over a year and finally decided to purchase one for myself and my driver (the hubby). We just love it! Would recommend this one to everyone. Great size, easy to use and great price.

I own the Garmin 660 and purchased the 760 thinking I was getting a better upgrade at a good price. Turns out, I was disappointed in the 760 and returned it. There are features on my 660 that I like that are not on the 760. Example: I like the alert tone on my 660 that gets my attention to let me know instructions are to follow. There is no alert tone option on the 760. The sound quality on the 760 is much worse than my 660 also. I did like the fact that the antenna is built in on the 760 but, overall, I like my 660 much better. If you've never owned the Garmin 660, the 760 is still a good unit but I've been spoiled with my 660 and didn't want to give up certain features and the superior sound quality of the 660.

These reviews are actual customer reviews from the Amazon.com site for the Garmin 760 GPS.  With over 950 reviews on their site, only about 180 of them are 3 stars or less, out of a 5 star system.
