While this hub is primarily for Gays it is also for straights who want to better understand the gay perspective and lifestyle (and travel and shopping tips). I have a small section here written by straights on their perspective of interaction with gays. Hubbers certainly have a variety of opinions on this subject!
Bookmark this site (hub) for all info about Gay life, and Gay/Straight interaction. Certainly there is no more complex issue in American life, though the economic downturn has overshadowed many rights issues lately. Hubbers have many different opinions about Gay life. I have my own opinions and the opinions on Hubpages are varied and sometimes controversial. But as long as we do not throw each other under the bus, people can make progress in dealing with joys, fears, and situations that come with Gay/Straight interaction.
I hope this hub is a positive contribution to the dialogue about Gays and society! Regardless of your personal preference, we are all Americans, and we are all wanting to pursue happiness. I am straight, but I call for respect for all peoples. We saw how Bush played to the rich and you can see where that got us. So please, a little tolerance of others will go along way. I sense some other countries are more tolerant than Americans and others are less tolerant. Tolerance does not mean we give up our core beliefs. That is what makes America great, core beliefs and tolerance.

Hey Sneak, it isn't a threat to me. It is about the intellectual pursuit of tolerance and I have a mainstream heterosexual life that I don't feel guilty about. But being prejudiced against gays is like being prejudiced against blacks, or hispanics, etc. It requires an open understanding of other people. It requires growth as a person. You don't give up who you are but you learn to accept others. My mom is 97 and she likes Ellen. She has more tolerance than you do!
