Coming Out Around the World.

Did you know that being gay is illegal in 80 countries and punishable by death in Iran, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen and some parts of Nigeria and Somalia? I didn’t! Well, according to a report released by the ILGA, The International Association of Gays and Lesbians, this is the sad truth.

On a lighter side, a few countries in Centro America no longer deem homosexuality illegal, and other have recently amended their criminal codes to eliminate what is known as the "sodomy scandal”.

Although European countries have been changing their laws to legalize homosexuality since as early as 1983, homosexuality is still very illegal in Turkey. I feel sorry for gay Turks.   Did you know that even after all the pro-gay propaganda, the coming out of the closet and global gay approval? A mere seven countries tolerate gay marriage. I think it´s important to name them: South Africa, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Canada, as well as the states of Maine, Iowa, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont.

The fact that 10 countries allow joint adoption of children by same-sex couples shows that the gay community has really come a long way. Gay couples in Israel, Spain, South Africa, Andorra, Iceland, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and United Kingdom, most Canadian provinces, São Paulo and parts of USA and Australia can realize their dream of mother and fatherhood.

Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnell and Elton John were ‘Coming Out’ pioneers. The gay community bows to you! Today the word ‘gay’ is a household word thanks to them. Living in such a wonderfully free and unique country as is the United States, today’s youth won’t even know what it was like to have to ‘Come out’. They are born with a computer mouse in their hand, daily gay sitcoms and are very likely to have same-sex parents.

You wanna know a secret? I’m not gay.
