Besides gemstones Jaipur produces good amount of Gold and silver jewelry and jewelry studded with precious / semi-precious stones and diamond. The Gem and jewelry export promotion council of India is the government body to promote and regulate export and import business.

Gem and Jewelry export promotion council of India has started a treatment plant for color stones in Sitapura industrial area, Jaipur. Basant Mehta, Chairman of the council inaugurated the project and named it JJSR and T center (14 March, 2009). Jaipur Jewelry show has donated rupees 3.3 million for purchasing of equipments.

According to Rajeev Jain, vice president of the council, this center will perform heat treatment only at initial stage. He added that radio active treatment will be started in future with cooperation of Bhabha atomic research center.

Gemological institute of America is also being consulted to start some treatment. All treatments to gemstones will be available in Jaipur after completion of the project.
