General facts about Malaysia
54I want to share with you the info about my country, Malaysia.
As one of the South East Asian countries, Malaysia, an approximately 329,000 square km area is hot and humid throughout the year.
From the map, you can see Malaysia has 2 parts: West Malaysia and East Malaysia.
The Malaysia people can be divided into 3 main groups or races. There are Malays which are politically dominant, Chinese ( economically dominant ) and Indians ( well known for professional careers like doctors and lawyers ).
This multi-racial groups creates what is called 'Truly Asia' which you can see from Malaysia Tourism advertisements.
The official language is Malay ( formerly known as Bahasa Malaysia) and English is widely used in big cities like Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.
Mandarin and Tamil are also spoken by Chinese and Indians.
There are 14 states in Malaysia as reflected by 12 white and red stipes on Malaysia flag.
These states are Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Federal Territories ( Kuala Lumpur, Labuan Island and Putrajaya ).
The Malaysia population is 27 millions people and this country is politically stable with BN ( Barisan Nasional ) as the ruling government.
As a tourist, you don't have to worry to visit this calm and peace country.
A lot of accommodations and hotyels are available everywhere especially in big cities.
Malaysia has many places of interest like Langkawi, Pangkor, Redang and Tioman island.
For transportation, you can use flights from companies like Malaysia Airline System (MAS), AirAsia or FireFly.
KLIA is the main and modern airport located in Sepang, Selangor and about 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur.
If you prefer to travel by land, you can use an express bus from Transnasional, CauseWay, EltaBina bus companies.
The main bus terminals in Kuala Lumpur are Hentian Pudu Raya, Hentian Putra and Hentian Duta.
You can also take a train by KTMB ( Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad). In Kuala Lumpur, you need to go to KL Sentral to take the train.
Depend on your destination, you can use train from KL Sentral to go to Penang, Perak, Kedah and Perlis in the North.
You can also heading South to Johor Bahru or Singapore.
As of this writing (December), now is the rainy season with many cloudy and rainy days.
