I was just as surprised as you are! I came across a research article on Niacinamide (also known as Nicotinamide or Vitamin B3) that described work done by P&G and their findings. Some of the beneficial properties of Niacinamide include – reduction of skin hyperpigmentation (skin whitening), reduction of acne, increased skin moisture and reduction of fine wrinkles.
