The Gerber Covert Automatic knife was designed by Applegate-Fairbairn.  Patterned after the Fixed blade dagger by the same name and designer, this automatic knife has several features that I really like.  First, the trigger button is over sized.  This is really good if you wear gloves to work.  Think--Police officer or Military situation.  Second, the slide safety is mounted on the front of the knife.  This means it is more convenient and simpler to open and close.  The safety also has a red button under the slide to remind you if it is "live" or not.  This auto knife has a spear point tip and is partially serrated.  Overall, I give this one a 9.5 out of 10 rating.  Made of great materials by a quality company, the Gerber Covert is sure to be popular for many years to come.

Gerber has hit an absolute home run with this automatic knife. When Gerber go ready to construct this auto knife, they first listened to what the military men and women were asking for. This Gerber 06 has an over-sized button. What does this mean to you? It means that when you are wearing gloves to protect your hands from cuts and scratches, you can still activate this auto knife. It doesn't have one of those little tiny buttons that so many of the other top end auto knives come with. The 06 Auto Knife also comes with an easily manipulated slide safety that engages at both the open and the closed position. This is also easy to use wearing gloves.

The 06 Auto knife is heavy duty. With a handle built of Type III T-6061 anodized aircraft aluminum and a blade made from S30V premium stainless steel, this knife is going to handle everything you throw at it. The blade will keep it's edge for a long time. This knife also has a partially serrated edge. You can slice and cut with the versatile blade. The pommel is constructed with a heavy duty strike point and has a lanyard hole that is compatible with 550 cord. All around, this automatic knife is built for action--it will stand up to the heavy duty abuse that comes with the territory out in the field of action.

Looking for a great fixed blade knife? The LMF II by Gerber is one you should consider. This medium weight combat knife works perfect as a survival knife or an all purpose camping knife. The blade is 4.84 inches of 12C27 Steel and it has a textured Kraton handle. The blade is strong enough to take almost anything you may throw its way. The handle is great--it is a good size for gripping and the texture makes it easy to hold onto under less than desirable conditions such as rain, sleet, etc. The LMF II fixed blade knife also comes with a molded plastic or a nylon sheath. Both are good--it just depends on which one you prefer. The butt cap is actually physically separated from the tang by some handle substrate--this means you get some good shock absorption and that there is electrical isolation from the blade. If you cut something charged--you shouldn't get a shock. I really think this is one of the best fixed blade combat or survival knives on the market.

This knife isn't strictly a Gerber knife--it is a joint venture by Gerber and Emerson. Gerber has teamed up with tactical knife designer Ernie Emerson to create this line. The Automatic knife has a plain edge blade made form 154 CM steel. It is 3.5" of black oxidized greatness. The spring is made of 315 stainless--which means it isn't going to go bad on you like some manufacturer's knife springs. The handle is top quality machined 6061 T6 aluminum and is finished in all black. This knife will stand up to some serious usage. I love mine.
