German Shepherds are great family dogs

We have a German Shepherd named Magnolia, but we call her Maggie. She's great with kids, so-so with other dogs (fine if she's off leash, but she'll let you know it if another dog is too close to the strollar), and sheds a ton.

You should have more from your actual self about German Shepherds! I'd like to hear from an actual owner. I really want a German Shepherd myself so I want to see how they actually are

Glassvisage, German Shepherds are great pets. Very smart, alert, and people friendly. They do need frequent exercise. The only downside I think is the amount of shedding. They shed a ton. So if your going to keep it in the house a lot, you'll need to check out my Hub on brushing them:)

The picture of this german shephard is cute and hilarious (the suits got arm hanging down). I needed this laugh. I also like german shephards period...had one as a kid, he was so lovable and was stolen. When my stepfather tried to retrieve him by knocking on the door and confronting the guy that took him the man drew on gun on him. After that we just never had another dog.

The dog is a good sport. They are great family pets. I often hear that people that like German Shepherds had a positivie experience as a kid with them. My Grandama had one, and I was always impressed by how smart and friendly it was.

I love German Shepherds. Like my Golden Retriever and Labs, though, they do need daily brushing to reduce the constant shedding. They do make wonderful family pets and good guardians for children, as you've seen with the stroller, so yours must be great for the girls. And they need lots of exercise, as do all working breeds. Amazing how many people expect them to be placid housedogs without daily long walks, or even better, runs! I agree with glassvisage, though - Would love to have some of your anecdotes. Thanks for the resources.

The most importan thing after owning a german shepherd is to take him/her for a walkor they will become destructive.socialising is also imporant.

Why does coffee send me German Shepher into a panic attack mode? She begins running, climbing the walls and jumping on furniture whenever I make coffee. I rescued her and she is 5 years old. Could this remind her of something in her past? Periodically however she will do this when coffee is not being made but definitely when it is. Thanks anyone for your comments.

Does the coffee maker produce a high pitched sound? My german shepherd will do that when very high pitched noises are present.
