Finding the Time to Exercise

Being a mom trying to lose weight can be very difficult to do. Not only do our bodies gain weight with pregnancy that doesn't magically disappear, but it can also be tough to find time to eat right and exercise when you have a family to take care of.

Fortunately, it isn't as hard as you might think it might be to get a good workout when you have children running around. Below are a few ideas for ways you can get exercise without needing to worry about getting a babysitter:

1. Jogging and Walking: Jogging and Walking are great ways to get back into shape. Older kids might enjoy a walk filled with nature or interesting things to see. Younger toddlers and babies can sit in a stroller and give you added resistance to your workout while they enjoy the ride. They even make specially designed jogging strollers for exercising made specifically so parents can get a workout without having to leave the kids behind.

2. Mom & Kids Fitness Classes: There are all types of classes for moms and their kids to get a good workout together. Some of them are designed for especially working with babies, others are designed to help get the whole family in shape. Checking with your local hospital or doctor's office can probably give you some direction on what classes might be available in your area.

3.Aerobics/Dance Videos: Babies who are able to sit up or walk will even enjoy clapping their hands to the music and watch you entertain them with your aerobic dance moves. Older kids can get into the fun too by picking videos they'd like to try and dancing with you.

If you can manage to exercise three times a week for 30 minutes each time in conjunction with a healthy diet, you'll be able to start feeling better as well as seeing results in just a few weeks. Doing exercise to lose weight is probably one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself and your body. Of course, you'll want to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program to make sure that the workout you choose is one that is best for you.

Tips for Eating Right

We see all kinds of crazy fad diets all the time, Not only are some of them dangerous, they also don't give you enough to eat which can cause you to give up. You don't have to starve yourself to get back in shape - in fact you'll be surprised how much you actually have to eat!

Here are some tips for staying shape:

1. Eat Breakfast: Breakfast is so important. Whether you decide to try healthy breakfast weight loss shakes and smoothies or go for a well balanced meals of an egg with vegetables and whole grain toast ,you have to eat something for breakfast. Try to balance your food groups so that at each meal you get a serving of protein, dairy, fruits or veggies, and whole grains.

2. Cut Out the Sugar: There is so much added calories in sugar, not to mention it affects your blood glucose levels as well which can also affect how you get back in shape. For some tips on going sugar free, you might like my other hub about curbing sugar cravings.

3. Switch to Low Fat Versions: Another sneaky way to reduce your calories without worrying about counting them is to switch to the low fat or low calorie versions of foods. Now, I don't recommend going for fat free cookies - but going for low fat cheese or switching to 90% lean turkey can make a huge difference without making huge sacrifices.

4. Snack Smart: If you are hungry between meals, you can eat all the fruits and veggies you want. For variety and to make it even more interesting, try pairing fruits with homemade yogurt or eating lean turkey breast with cheese and crackers. You don't have to starve in between meals - you just have to make sure you choose healthy food instead of going for that bag of chips.
