Get Fabulous Prom Hair
55For 2008, Prom Style is sophisticated. Long gone is the little girly, curly tight updo with sparkles. Now, get a wavy 'do, long and lean and soft.
Ask for a fingerwave look, and have it secured at the base of the nape OR have only half put up and allow waves to cascade down your neck.
Do it yourself: Start with dry hair and apply hairspray or spray wax throught entire head to prepare. Use a very large curling iron and curl the bottom of your hair in vertical sections. (Vertical means you hold the curling iron up and down, pointing toward ceiling while hair is heating up). Hold each for only 10-12 seconds. Spray each with hairspray after, lightly, and bobby pin the curl to hold while you work on the rest of your hair. Work your way up your head, curling large sections vertically, spraying, then pinning. When all is done, take out the bobby pins and shake hair loose. Style your bangs the way you would like, then leave them alone.
For a volumized bouffant on top-tease the crown area and smooth hair over it, using hairspray to secure. Skip this if you'd like your hair to be leaner and lower down.
For a lower neck pony-secure the bottom half of your hair into a ponytail down to the base of the hairline, almost onto the neck. Now, use the bobby pins to secure the loose curls from the top of the hair into the ponytail. It will begin to appear that there are no pins and the ponytail is less obvious.
For a half-up look, leave the bottom waves down. Section about the third top of the hair together and either use a decorative clip or twist once and secure with bobby pins, hiding them under the hair.
In Conclusion: It's easier than it sounds if you just follow those step and are creative. You can look like the celebs below. If do-it-yourself is not working for you---call your local hairstylist and bring photos! Have fun at prom!
