You can get Over Social Anxiety
One of the largest mental disorders in the United States is Social Anxiety. There is not much attention given to this disorder but its known that up to 5% of the population have it and many more dont get treat it.
The truth is that people that have this disorder suffer a lot and have a lot of frustration because is not just that they are shy or that they are a little anxious in social situations, the problem is that they have this intense fear of interacting with people, its so frustrating that they prefer to avoid any social interaction at all.
However it doesent mean that they dont want to have a social life, is just that they cant do it, they prefer to stay alone rather that suffer the embarrassment and pain of dealing with other people and be judged by others.
But you can get over social anxiety, there are many cases of people that overcome social phobia or reduce their anxiety dramatically. There are different therapies and medications available.
Treatment Medications
The usual medications for social anxiety are:
- anti depressants
- anti-anxiety medicines
- beta blockers
Anti depressants have proven to be effective in reducing some of the symptoms as well as anti anxiety medicines especially in severe cases. On the other hand beta blockers are good in some cases that are not severe like for people with anxiety for performance.
The down side of anti depressants and drug medications is that they create side effects, especially if you are take high dosis. So you have to be careful and have a proper prescription before trying any drug.
Behavioral Cognitive Therapy
Another very effective method to treat social phobia is behavioral therapy. Although some people say that is not as effective as medications, the truth is that to achieve long term effects and be healthy a behavioral therapy is very good.
A psychotherapist will identify thoughts, beliefs and assumptions that you have in a particular social anxiety situation and then he will help you to change those beliefs and make you understand that the thoughts about your self are irrational that other people are not judging you.
There is a specific process to achieve those results, in some cases will be more difficult than others. But once you learn to change your beliefs and physical reactions you will get over social anxiety.
Now its time for you to take the next step, you can choose to be by your self or you can seek help and start to change. It can be challenging at first, but once you know the true cause of your irrational thoughts and you push your self forward a little bit each day, you will notice that there is no reason to be afraid, that everyone else is like you and have strengths and weakness.

I have severe social anxiety, and had a great therapist who rly knew what she was doing in CBT. The steps eventually got to hard (after walknig around the block, ha) and I couldnt do it. I gave up.

Yeah I'm not so sure that chemicals is th answer here, there are a number of other ways to over come these sorts of problems.
