Lower Back And Hip Pain

The back is under a constant strain throughout our lives and whilst it is very strong, it can be injured without to much difficulty; poor posture can also result in damage to the back and can happen when a person is quite young. However, back pain is usually caused by a lifting accident or from lifting incorrectly and it is normally the lower back that suffers. Many people are now turning to other methods of gaining back pain relief which do not include the use of drugs.

An easy, inexpensive method to treat pain and bring relief is stretching; it actually relaxes the back muscles which can become knotted and tight, causing discomfort. Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet; it works very well in relieving back pain. Often to compensate for our pain, the back muscles over compensate. Reflexology can help provide relief by improving the circulation which in turn relaxes these hard worked muscles.

Although acupuncture is an age old Chinese medical practice that has been used for thousands of years, it is only recently that the Western world has accepted it as an alternative form of back pain relief. The Chinese believe all humans have an energy force that flows through us called qi which is affected by our health. Acupuncture works by releasing the 'chi' or energy flow that every living thing has to improve health. Like reflexology, acupuncture seems to be used by people who suffer with chronic conditions like back pain which requires relief.

The Chinese discipline of tai chi has also provided relief as it uses yoga like principles. It is far easier and much slower so there is less likelihood of further damage being caused. This method uses breathing control as the main source of relief with some stretching involved. It is so easy to learn by the young and old alike. Regular exercise is also one of the best preventative medicines available and can help with back pain relief; by exercising regularly there is less chance of a back pain attack.

Some of these different methods of pain relieve can be difficult to find or are expensive. It seems like exercise is the best method for back pain, in fact 68% of people are successful in getting rid of back pain by exercise. The internet has many programs that are easily accessible. One program "The Guide To Back Pain Relief" by Mike Stiveson is affordable and easy access. Just because it is easy to find different treatments does not me one should not seek a doctor's opinion. Sometimes back pain is a symptom of other more serious problems.
