I Want A Free Blog . . . How do I Get Started?

It's very easy to get started blogging. You simply join one of the free blogging sites and set up your blog.

Profile

You'll want to set up a profile, along with your picture.

It can be fun tweaking your blog and learning the different features offered through whichever blogging platform you choose.

Type of Blog

You'll want to give consideration as to what type of blog you want to create.

  • Will in be a diary, a place where you jot down your thoughts?
  • Will it be a journal, so that family and friends can stay in touch?
  • Will it be a public blog?
  • If so, what focus will it have?
  • Do you want a blog to advertise your business?
  • Do you want a money-making blog?
  • Do you hope to create a side-line business as a professional blogger?

All these questions will determine what kind of blog you set up. Some free blogging platforms (Blogger) allow for monetization, such as Google Ads or text-link ads; others prohibit this (Free WordPress).

Some bloggers like the features Blogger offers; others prefer WordPress. If you decide to go with WordPress, you can set up a monetized WordPress Blog but it will cost you a certain amount.

Some people opt for more than one blog and familiarize themselves with both Blogger and WordPress or go for something else.
