Are You Ready to Apply for a Business Credit Card?

If you run your own business or are thinking of starting a business then you have more than likely thought about getting a business credit card. Whether you run a retail business or do direct sales you have realized the advantage that having a business credit card has.

If your business happens to be done online then a business credit card almost becomes a necessity. When choosing a company and applying for your new business credit card follow these three easy steps to help you get accepted.

1. Choose the Type of Card You Want

Many cards companies offer small business owners special deals, for example some rebate cards offer you a percentage back on everything you buy at certain stores, such as office supply stores. Additionally, other cards may offer cash back when you make a purchase at such places as supermarkets, gas stations or home improvement stores.

Still some cards offer frequent flier miles or travel rewards which often times gets you the most value. Choose wisely when deciding on the type of card that is right for you, decide which types of purchase you will be making most often and what types of rewards you will use the most.

2. Collect Important Documents

You will need to take all of the basic information about your company's financial situation, this includes such things as the name of your business, the tax identification number, the business address, the number of years you've been an owner and the number of employees when you go to apply for your business credit card.

Check with the company that you apply with for a complete list of the paperwork you will need. It is important to take everything you need when going to apply for your new business credit card to avoid any delay or chance of denial.

3. Complete the Application for Your Chosen Card

You can find applications for almost all business credit cards online; additionally you can usually call and apply for your new credit card over the phone, this is convenient if you have any questions or are unsure about anything.

Depending on your credit rating, you may have to provide extra documentation of your business' current financial status, so be prepared to mail or fax information if requested. After you fill out the application, approval can take anywhere from thirty seconds to a month.

It is a good idea to check your credit rating before applying to check for any errors that may cause you to get denied. If you are denied the credit card company will send you a letter of explanation. You should again check your credit report after being denied.

To find business credit cards online, do an Internet search using Google or your choice of search engine. You can also check the websites of major credit card companies to compare and find the right business credit card for you.
