I believe that a woman has to be pro-active to get her man, and keep him.

Some men are harder to get than others. Rich men, handsome men, charming men, are all harder to get because there are more attractive women competing for them. However, if you really want someone, you have a good chance of getting him, if you put in the effort.

Here is what you can do to get your man and keep him devoted to you.

Find Out What He Likes.

Research is a crucial part of getting your man. Find out what he likes by asking mutual friends, and doing research online.

Nowadays, a lot can be learnt by doing some simple online searches. He may have a Facebook or mySpace account, he may have a blog, and he may post in message boards. By looking at his online footprints, you can learn much about a man, including his past girlfriends, interests and preferences. You can also post follow-up questions to his message board postings to get more information.

Remember to be subtle. You do not want to be seen as "too interested" or worse, "a stalker". Once that happens, you will likely have lost your chances for getting your man.

Regardless what they may say, men do not like women stalking them. They also do not like women who are too assertive in their pursuit. So get some trusted friends to do the question asking for you, and make sure your online personas cannot be easily linked back to you.

Show Your Best Side.

Part of getting your man is to identify what you are good at, highlight these skills, and create "natural" opportunities where you can strut your stuff. Three important areas include:

a) How you look.

You do not have to look like a model, but it helps to always look your most attractive when you are meeting up with the object of your affection. Find out what "type of look" your man prefers, and style yourself towards that ideal.

Hair length, hair style, and hair color are all things that are under your control. Wear tasteful make-up that is appropriate for the event, and dress to enhance your favorite features. A short skirt will enhance your legs, a low-cut sexy dress will enhance your chest, and tight pants will enhance your bottom.

b) How you talk or don't talk.

Remember that men like women who listen to them. It is important not to appear too nervous by talking too much. You are less likely to put your foot in your mouth if your mouth is closed!

Listen, and ask questions to show that you are interested in what he has to say. This is also a good opportunity to find out more about your date, and what he likes, so that you can fine-tune your future encounters.

Prepare some interesting and humorous stories to tell, especially if they are within his areas of interest. It is important to appear confident, and casual. You want to show him that you are sure of yourself, and he is just one of the many men who are vying for your affections.

c) What you do.

Find an activity that you feel comfortable doing and are good at.

For example, if you are good at cooking, invite him over for a dinner, or a party where you get to show off your culinary skills. If you are good at writing, send him one of your articles, and discuss it with him. If you are good at driving, rent a sexy, sports car and take him out on a spin. Men like women who can handle heavy machinery!

Create Opportunities.

Don't sit at home waiting for the phone to ring. Take a pro-active role in creating your own opportunities.

Ask a good friend to organize movie night, or a group dinner, where you and your favorite man are invited. Create accidental meetings where you run into him by chance. An accidentally meeting at the gym is always a nice opportunity to show off. Just be subtle and don't have too many surprise run-ins.

Make each opportunity count. Have a plan so that you can organize followup get togethers, or even dates when you accidentally run into him.

Show Confidence.

Men find confident women who are self-assured, and who are desired by other men, to be especially attractive.

If others, and most importantly yourself, think that you are hot stuff, then you must be so. If you are nervous, and don't believe in yourself, then it will be difficult to convince others to believe in you as well. So be confident, or at least pretend to be confident, and get some of your male friends to act as your admirers.

Create Some Common Ground.

Men like women who show interest in their activities and achievements. To get your man, invest some time in his favorite interests and hobbies. Learn enough so that you can ask intelligent questions, and keep the conversation going.

The more, it seems, you have in common, the more comfortable he will be with you and enjoy your company. This will significantly increase the odds of a followup date.

Finding some common ground is a simple thing that everyone can do, but surprisingly, very few people do it. With just a little time on Google, you can significantly increase your chances of getting your man.

I am all for being pro-active in getting what you want, including a man, but you do not want to cross the line from healthy interest, into obsession. If you have put in the effort, and he is still disinterested, then it is best to move on to someone else.

On the other hand, do not take a passive role and expect the man to do everything.

Man hunting can be a very fun experience, as long as you know when to give up, and go home.
