Get rid of a pimple overnight - Simple technique that works every time!

10 Steps to no more zit!
If you've got a picture to take for school, a dance to go to, or just school, and noticed a new friend on your face, then you're going to love this helpful save.
The procedure is very simple, no surgery involved *wink*
- 1. Wash your face with acne soap like Clearasil. If you have really oily skin wash it twice, and dab dry with a towel (don't rub)
- 2. prepare an ice pack using a zip lock bag, a thin towel some aluminum foil and of course Ice. Crushed is best but you can simply crush cubes if that's all you got.
- 3. Put the crushed ice inside the aluminum foil and seal very well (interlock the edges by folding them into themselves) this will keep the ice cold and from melting too fast. put the foil inside the zip lock bag (again this helps it stay cold. You will need it to be freezing cold. (remove air before closing zip lock bag)
- 4. Wrap this inside a thin hand towel; this keeps the temperature cold but without being too cold.
- 5. After you wash your face put the ice pack on the area where the zit is. The aluminum foil and crushed Ice will form a mold around that area, if you have several zits you can make the ice pack bigger.
- 6. Hold the ice pack over the zip for AT LEAST 10 minutes, this freezes the pores closed forcing out the oil and dirt. The trick here is a.) force out the culprit that's causing the zit, the dirt and oil that's irritating the pores, and b.) to dissolve it so it doesn't just spread to other surrounding pores and make the zit bigger. If you pop the zit it will get bigger because it's like a volcano in overflowing oil into surrounding pores! if you must pop the zit do so while its bathed in Noxzema (challenging yes but safe lol)
- 7. After ten minutes apply Noxzema (or any medicated cleansing cream) on the whole face (just in case any oil escapes to avoid new zits) and rub in very well around the zit area. If everything goes well the zit should have shrank just a tad, and the Noxzema will absorb the oil and dirt.
- 8. Wash off the Noxzema and dab with a towel (again don't rub!)
- 9. Apply a generous amount of Clearasil or any medicated acne cream like oxy etc.. Make sure its a cream. This will absorb any excess oils that seeped out when the pores closed and medicate the skin helping it heal.
- 10. Wait 4 hours and repeat. do this until the zit is substantially smaller. After two times you can go to bed and keep the Clearasil on all night and you may wake up with no zit! I did this in high school 15 years ago, when I had zits all over my face.. I made the aluminum foil ice pack into a whole face mold (and that wasn't a fun experience freezing the whole face) and substantially removed or lowered in appearance the acne on my face.. If it gets to hurting don't worry it will go numb shortly after and you wont even feel it there.. if you do the whole face thing you have to take breaks or you'll get an ice cream headache *smile

I've been using Aloe Vera leaves to treat my acne. Its antibacterial and antiviral qualities really thus the magic. Its safe and its cheap.
I tried clearisil, washing my face twice a day,and everything else i could possibly think of. i hvae 15 days left of school and there is this girl i like, but i have too many zits. What can i do?
Start at the top of the page here and read it again following the instructions. Repeat every 4 hours
Freezing your zits off, wow, who knew!
Yeppers.. The proactive and other great products on the market work using the same concept but they use chemicals to drive the dirt out and dry the oil! This is the poor mans way to do it ..
Proactive only worked 4 me 4 aboout 2 months i got seriously screwed. I have a few zits that i need to get rid of so im using honey or toothpaste or applecider vineger do they work?
I can't see how putting past on your face or anything for that matter that would clog the pores would help get rid of pimples. You'd be better off using rubbing alchohol which at least dries up the oil and dissolves the dirt.. that's how I got through high school.. until I found this articles trick whcih I used until one day I just didnt get them anymore :)
Alcohol dries out the skin too much, thus causing the subaceous glands to overproduce oils causing an even worse situation. I keep reading, "Use an antibacterial soap", however, all soaps are antibacterial. I recommend seeing a dermatolgist, getting on an antibiotic such as Doxycycline and treat the bacteria from inside, out. Drink a lot of water. Imagine your skin is like a water balloon with a tiny little hole in it. Drinking water forces toxins, oils and bacteria out of the largest organ in the human body. Avoiding greasy foods, chocolate, sugar, etc., is a myth. Acne is genetic and/or hormonal issue. It needs to be treated by a doctor. Keep your hands off of your face, don't pick, wash your face at minimum twice a day with a mild cleanser specifically designed for acne, containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide) with lukewarm water for at least one minute, pat your face dry, apply an oil free moisturizer, and dab a low strength spot acne treatment on the pimple(s) only. If you keep a daily cleansing regimen going, you should see some improvement, however, if you don't, you should really see a doctor to get your acne under control before you cause permanent damage to your skin. Pock marks and scarring is expensive to correct, not to mention, it takes time to heal from the treatments to correct scarring. Don't spend your money on thirty different over the counter meds! Just go see a dermatologist and he will help you get your problem under control. Good luck!
yea i feeze my zits all the time just make sure to not touch ur acne it just make it worse i usually have great skin but every once in a while i get a big zit on my forhead nose or cheeks first wash ur face then feeze it put the ice in a paper towle and warp iit and place it on the zit then wash ur face again and pat it dry then put ance solution try it again after a couple hours and usually my face looks just like new
Wow....how sophisticated LoL
I'm suffering from acne for a couple of months. I have tried so many procedures but all are in vain. I"ll try this out.
THIS TOTALLY WORKS so does lemon juice or toothpast before you freeze your zits put a hot towel on you face this opens up the poors then wash your face then freeze them to close them up so no dirt gets in like the article says
I've been using ice/ice pack recently to lower the swelling of the zit. It might feel kinda weird, but it works if you leave it on for long periods of time.
-- Don't wash your face too frequently, or your skin might dry out (skin too dry can be prone to breakouts).
-- DONT TOUCH INFECTED AREAS! Its tempting! I know, it's really tempting to pop a zit. But its not worth popping a zit, only to have it develop into something worse, or have it heal scar (which can take years to fade) as a reminder!
-- But, even if your going to pop a zit, DO NOT sqeeze it or pop it with your fingers. Lots of bacteria and oils are under your nails/on your fingers and can aggravate the zit and make it worse.
--- Use sterile and CLEAN tools! When popping a zit, make sure to not draw blood, because blood clots and scabs.
Hope this helps someone =D
I thought u had to pop a zit or it wouldn't go away and that when u draw blood that means that all the dirt and oil is out im completelly confused ...
i just put tooth paste on my zits then washed my face and cleansed it then wash it off with really hot water put a ice pak on with paper towel put it on my zits. from the moment i put the icepak on it's gone down and got less red which is fab cuz i put my foundation on and not see through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'v tried everything- Proactive, Skin ID, everything but nothings worked. I'v even tried toothpaste and this and i still got these retarded bumps.
WHY WONT THEY GO AWAY? D:
I use Proactiv, and I've been for about 2-3 years.
It never did work perfectly, but I'm started to realize now more than ever that it doesn't work. I am trying this technique as I'm writing (my shoulder holding the ice to my face lol). Hopefully this will work. !
my pimples wont go away! it's been like, 2 weeks, i guess. i washed my face twice a day with a cleanser for acne prone skin, used toner, put moisturizer, dabbed the acne treatment thing that has benzoyl peroxide in it (i use OXY), but it WONT GO AWAY. it's ANNOYING. And now two more pimples are starting to show.
HELP! D:>
ICE!!! you have to follow this sites instructions, the ice is the key (and the acne cream clearisil) this is what I did back when I couldnt get rid of pimples worked every time.
Ive used Proactive, once you start using it your acne gose away really quickly.
Then after a while Proacive dose NOTHING!!
I have started using Ice on my pimples! IT WORKS!!
TRY IT
Wow! As I'm writing this i have a super huge zit and this seems very
ahh-mazing! So i'm deff guna try . But do you have to use clearisil? Because I have some Clear-Zit acne medicine that is pretty good. But i'll deff try this. I would have never guessed that popping your zit is bad. All my friends say that popping it is the best way to go.
No you don't have to use clearasil that's just what I used (that worked) in high school.
Popping your zits will leak out oils and dirt trapped inside. The reason they turn into white heads is the white t cells in your body are trying to attack the anomoly (dirt) so that white puss is the white cells that kill anything in your body. Popping them is not good if you just pop them and go on because you will spread that dirt and oil and cause a BIgger zit.
If you do it as this site talks about your cleaning up that excess oil anyway so no harm done. You can end up with scars if you pop them (the big ones) so you should leave them be and do what this site shows, the pores will open the puss and dirt/oil will still come out as the ice will freeze the pores closed pushing everything out. The clearisile or acne cream neutralizes and dries up oils so it's there to mop up the oils that will come out as you sleep. It also draws the oil out like a sponge (or a napkin to water).
i'll keep this in mind, but i haven't had any pimples for abour 2 months now.
if you feel you really do have a problem, go to a doctor, he'll propably subscribe you pills. some people with serious cases go on ruacutan, which is veeeerrry good. i only had a few pimples [5ish] but they bothered me so the doctor put me on purbac adult. i was my face twice a day with clearasil, and use house of gallia cream. it's been working fine for me!!
if only there was a fool-proof way to get rid of a cold overnight, i want to go away for the weekend ;)
works. :)
omg..i hope this works i have a huge pimple on my face and do not want it
thanx for the ti[s guys!
leamon juice and white toothpaste works best for mii

people proactiv is the worst.. it dries ur skin
if you have a zit, you need to try this! it works so well. i swear im not lying my zit was a lot smaller after the first minute with the ice pack.

Ughh i hope this works. For the past like week I have had no zits which is really odd cause I at least always have one somewhere around my t-zone. && then guess what. I was extremely tired last night, and didnt have the energy to clean my face. Next morning (this morning) i wake up with about 5 zits on my t-zone (nose, head cheeks neare my nose, chin) and my crush wants to hang out, i canNOT have these on my face. hopefully it works, im gunna go try it :) Oh and proactive doesnt work. tried it. only for about the firls couple weeks it worked but now it does NOTHING!! :)
I have to go to prom day after tomorrow. And I have this huge pimple on my cheek for the past few days. I've been washing my face regularly with medicated soap.
Will ice cure my zit in a day?
this works i PROMISE U! AWSIOME! I HAD a huge zit on my upper lipp AND ITS GONE!!!!!
OMG this works, i left the ice pack on for 20-30 minutes wrapped in tinfoil and a thin shirt and the put it on my pimple. The swelling its almost completely gone after two rounds. i also put aloe gel on it it seemed to help..
One thing i have learned try to not to use harsh medicines, salt and other things. Yeah it will dry it quickly put will leave it with a puckered look... and then scap ... just do the ice!
toothpaste so did not work 4 me... i started using murad and then my acne was gone in a matter of days. ps. proactive does not work... :)
OMG PLEASE HELP
Oh My Goodness
well... rigth now i am using Murad and it says that it will ring all zits up and out of my pores. and it has. i broke out really bad the first 2-3 days. my face is really clear but these two huge zits on my forehead. i never get them there. they are rea;;y deep ones and there hard. i am trying the ice treatment right now. i hope this works.
i hope this really works overnight because i have my first day of high school tomorrow!!
i have pimples and i just tried this but i dnt have acne cream? will this effect the results too much?
Actually, it will. The ice freezes the pores shut pushing out the oils, the acne cream absorbs and neutralizes said oils which in the end is the problem. You may try cleaning your face more, but why not just get a 4.00 tube of clearisil?
Jerrico
Well I have a HUGE pimple on the very tip of my nose,, and I really look like Rudolf!!!! omg.. its really hard I just started high school and there are a couple of boys that are sp cute,, but today was horrible i tried to hide my face all day! ughh.. im gonna try this and im gonna PRAY it works because i also have school pics in 2 days!!! So I'll post again if it works!! *CROSS YA FINGASS!!* Lol.
I get "underground " large zits on my chin will this help?
And what's noxzema?
The way this works is simple. You wash your face to remove all residual oils from the day (including the gazillion times you probably touched your face and stored more oils on it). The noxema removes the really touch oils that the soap didn't or the residual soap the bar soap left behind. This gives you a clean slate to work from. once you do this DAB dry with a towel, I used to use a square of paper towel (super absorbant kind) to soak up any water that fell into the pores( you ever touch a water drop with a paper towel, it sucks it up like there was wind underneath the water!)
The second to the last step is applying an ice pack. This freezes the pores closed forcing out oils and dirt. Normally this happens when you go outside into the cold but as your day gets warmer the oils and dirt left behind, as well as soap residues will seep back into the pores and the cycle of pimple manifestation begins again.
The clearisil is vital (anything with the active ingredient will work so long as it's a cream) because you put it on after all of this happens and as your skin warms back up the oils actually start to absorb into the cream. 4 hours later you wash your face completely again (start over) and repeat the process. Usually I was able to get rid of even deep black heads that you only felt on the surface as a painful bump.
My mom found this technique in a magazine when I was about 14 (I'm 34 now)and it was the only thing that ever worked. I posted it here as a hub last year and it's been helping thousands, but nothing works absolutely on everyone so your suggestions are welcome as they may help someone this didn't.
Jerrico, Support Team

I didd this trick , andd i saww it shrunkk a little ; but itss still noticible . andd idk iff it was suppposedd to " go away " or not , but it didnt . Ill probley do it againn . Please give me some tipsss ! email me . ruberduckie3@yahoo.com [:
Doing it once will do little, you have to repeat it every 4 hours till the zip is gone. Part of the problem is the skin is irritated so each time you do it you remove more of the oils and dirt all the while giving the skin a chance to heal/relax.
I used to get a monster zit just before a date or school dance in school and I'd start in the early am about 5am run through the list, do it again at 9am, go to school (yes I was late) hence why I used the clearisil that was brown, since it was the second time before leaving for school I didn't have to use too much clearisil, just enough to cover the zit and usually make it less noticable. I would then carry stridex pads with me and after 4 hours I'd clean the area off in the bathroom, and get ice from the cafeteria or teachers lounge and hide behind the bleachers to "ice the zit", using stridex instead of soap and water (I was in a position where this was hard as people wathcing you wash your face in school... not good... then I'd apply the clearisil.
When I got home I'd go through the list one more time completely, wait till just about bed time, do it again and woke up in the am with no zit... one day. I had a hell of a time getitng rid of them back then, this was the only thing that worked. Be creative... keep in mind WHY it works and use your own technique..
Ice - freezes pores closed pushing dirt/oil out
clearisil or anything with the active ingredient - dries up oils causing them also to clump so they can't go back into the pore
- noxema - has ingredients that extract oil from pores like a vacuume, but anything that does this works too i.e. clearisile bar soap and many other things on the market
- 4 hours - this is the optimal time for the clearisile to do it's thing and this also blocks out external dirt (often in the air!)
Good Luck!
WWAWWW hope this works
ugh, i have school tomorrow my first day, i hope this works im gonna go do it now and again every 4 hours. i really hope this works...theres this boy, (:
Ice actually worked for me, thanks so much :D I don't have anything else listed here, but I washed my face with neutrogena oil free acne wash, iced for ten minutes, and looked in the mirror. It's amazing - the ice really helped reduce the redness and swelling. The zits are still there, but they look a lot less digusting :D I'll ice again in a few hours. Again, thanks! This was a lifesaver - first day of tenth grade tomorrow >_
for how long do you have to keep the ice on for??
OHMYGOSH i have this huge zit right-smack-dab in the middle of my eyes (on the bridge of my nose)! im a beauty freak so i have to try this out!...NOW!!! it seems like its been working for everyone else, yay! :)
Instead of ice i used frozen peas they stay frozen for longer! i also use stridex and then a clearasil lotion and also a neutrogena soap to help tackle spots head on! get it lmao! nice one! ill see if this works tommoz cos im meeting a girl i really like and im gonna tell her how i feel about her! wish me luck!
:)
well im going to go try this now, cause i have a huge painfuls one..sorry so explicit. ill write and see if this works soon!
Ok so like I'm 14 and I don't usually break out but I get random stress zits on my face. I just tried this and the first two minutes of ice the spot got a lot smaller. I recommend using a very light weight moisturizer afterwards
I just tried this procedure but it did not work!! i followed the instructions but nothing!, (the redness did go away... only a little)
ughh!! i REALLY need this to work because i have stupid picture day tomorrow. uggh!! i hate my stupid pimple.....
this works , but it works very slowly :(
benzac 5% works well but like proactive use a lotion to moisturise otherwise u will get dry skin and dont use thick creams just a lotion!
I put toothpaste on the area. I brings everything to the surface and freezes the area so that dirt/oil/bacteria stay out. It looks silly-but it works!!! Don't use gel-just the regular paste, works the best. It will tingle and sting, but it works. If the redness persists, cut a potato in half and place it (having the inside touch the area, not the peel)-leave that on for 10 minutes or so and the redness is greatly reduced. Make sure to wash after. These tricks sound ridiculous-but in a pinch they work. To hide redness-Benefit cosmetics sells a great product called "lemon aid". It takes away all redness to match your natural skin complexion! Hope this helps : )
I've done this twice so far while still doing the same washing of my face. It seems like my pimples have shruken Already. But the only the I didn't use was that stuff that started with an n hah I can't remember. Oh and I didn't use foil the Second time so I kinda made a different way.
ok yes i tried everything and i have like 50 pimples/zits all together that are all over my face...i gave up on treatments like proactive and when the first month went by.. there was no difference so im 11 years of age turning 12 on November-23-09 and today is September-28-09 and i have an ice pace against my face write now as im writing this has got to work for me because i hve a boyfriend and whenever we're together i don't look at him face to face because...ACENE!!! i hate acene so much it took over my life and im still fight for it like 50% of my school ase made fun of me and call me acene face or they say go pop that big zit!!! i just cry i would say something back but im to weak with acene so we'll see if this works cause i need clear skin FAST!!!!
will this work for me Jerrico Usher???
After doing the ice procedure several times, before you go to bed, put tea tree oil or something containing tea tree oil dotted on the zits.
*Tea tree oil contains ingredients that combat both bacteria and fungus. Because of this, some people use it to treat a variety of minor (but annoying) infections like acne.
For acne: Many people find that pure tea tree oil is too strong to use directly on blemishes. It's better to use a tea tree oil gel or to dilute pure tea tree oil with grape seed oil, using one part tea tree to one part grape seed oil. You can gently rub the gel or diluted tea tree oil on zits two or three times a day. It will fight infection and may speed healing.*
or....
#
Dilute tea tree oil depending on your skin type. For use on normal to oily skin, mix 1 part tea tree oil with 9 parts water, or for sensitive skin, combine 1 part tea tree oil with 9 parts aloe vera gel. Tea tree oil is very strong and should never be applied directly to the skin unless diluted.
#
Step 2
Experiment with your solution. If you find that your mixture causes no adverse reactions, such as redness, dry skin or itching and would like a stronger mixture to treat acne, you can slowly begin to increase the strength of the dilution; however, make sure that you use each new mixture for at least one week before making it stronger.
#
Step 3
Use your tea tree oil solution by first washing your face with a gentle cleanser and patting dry. To help cut oil and acne, place the solution to a cotton ball and apply a light layer to your skin. After drying, apply an oil-free moisturizer. Repeat at night before bed.
#
Step 4
Make a tea tree oil mask which can be applied once or twice a week to help control acne break-outs. Add one or two drops of tea tree oil to enough natural green clay powder to make a mask, adding enough water to make a thick paste. Apply the paste evenly to your face and neck and leave for 30 minutes. Additionally, you can use this mask to spot treat pimples, leaving the mask on overnight.
(THis one is great for keeping the zits away)
Thank you so much. I have a photoshoot tomorrow and a pimple popped up on my forehead this morning. I was freaking out and desperate so I googled and found this.. I did it once a little bit ago, and the pimple has shrunk and isn't a bright red anymore, so I'm going to do it again in a few hours before bed. Thank you again! This is a life saver!
I have had horrible pimples everywhere all over my face for 5 years and I am only 14. I am doing this at the moment and i really hope it works becuase i am so fed up with it all!!! after my piples are gone, is there anyway to prevent them from coming back?
i have had zits pretty bad for like 2or 3 yars and it makes me really mad. I hate how people look at u differently. I am only 14 and all of these other girls have clear beautiful skin and then i have pimples all over my face. I am doing this as we speak and i really hope it works.
Excellent! I can't tell you how often I get asked about this, but I never had such a great resource to send people to. I mainly focus on how to get rid of acne in the long term, but most people just want a pimple to go away right now, so they can go on a date, or take a picture or something like that. So this will really help them.
There is plenty of different things that I've experimented with to get rid of acne. the one that works best, i think, and keeps working is freezing them. I'm not a scientist or anything, but I think long term use of acne medications dries your face out too much and forces the overprocution of oils just as much as rubbing alcohol like said previously. Thats why most acne solution kits include a step 3 moisturizer. Not only that, but when your body absorbs a steady abount of chemicals for long-term periods of time, it will eventually build a tollerance to them. I'm not a scientist or a dermatologist, I'm just basing this logically from what I know. I hate my acne. I have scars from it. I'm one of those neat freak guys who has a standard of clarity, class, and symmetry. It really troubles me mentally when I have a zit.I'm a perfectionist, and to me, the height of perfection is the complexion of a well developed main character from any final fantasy. haha!
I can't begin to tell you how much this helped me! I just used this "freezing" technique and my skin completely smoothed out. Although I still have the scars from picking a couple the other day, they are completely flat! I put a pack of crushed ice on each side of my face for thirty minutes instead of ten. I also didn't wash my face directly after, I put my acne cream on just because I've already washed my face twice today. I wish I knew of this sooner. My face broke out three weeks ago and I still had about five pesky pimples left. Instead of waiting weeks for my skin to clear up, I only have to wait a day! Yay! Haha. :) Thanks so much for sharing this technique!
This worked really good! I usually have beautiful, clear skin. But suddenly, I woke up one day, and when I looked in the reflection of a BIG, FAT VOLCANO on my face, next to my nose. I was devistated! My friends and I were going to hang out that day, and we usually take a lot of pictures...
I got really anxious, so I tried to google it. The first two sites I automatically doubted. They were sites trying to sell me a book that would "help me." Maybe they would. I don't know. But, I didn't want to spend money/time on a big book. I tried this site, my last resort.
It made the volcano 'cool down' but it still was there. It is smaller, but its redder now! Can someone help me out?
Real predcicament!

I always liked that guy from My Big Fat Greek Wedding's solution: Windex.
But I guess this will work too ;-)
