One way linking is when one website links to another, but what's great about this?

Backlinks are worth quite alot in terms of a traffic sense, but it is a process you have to get involved in and one that you yourself have to do some work to achieve some good quality link backs. It used to be the case of reciprical links that were the best form of obtaining links by creating a link partnership with a similar site and you would therefore exchange your url links in exchange for more traffic or that was the hope.

But now it seems that a lot of top webmasters have it down that one way linking is a better form of linkbuilding and this could make sense for the moment at least, by determining a sites page rank this could be a strong indicator that the site is widely popular within a certain niche and a site that has quite a few inbound and outbound links to other similar ranking sites higher or lower in page rank, then simply by linking to these in theory you will gain some of the credibility and rank status of the sites you link to....but...

There is obviously more to it than just linking to the higher page rank sites with the one way linking strategy, your content must first be optimized for it to be deemed relevant by the search engines with keywords that are relatable and equal or unequal to that of the linked to sites, long tail keywords place an emphasis on details within specific content so using a few of these phrases and a few choice keywords too can help your site experience some good traffic if you do it right.

Although there is free information out there from many webmasters and experts alike, there are some closely guarded secrets of the actual algorythms that are in place to rank sites, but to understand this is to be reassured that this is to deter people from abusing the system even further if they don't actually know the full inner workings of say Googles page ranking algorythm then they won't be able to game it for their own success. There is a small debate about which directories to go for and place your links on, but this is easily managed to get the best results.

The higher the page rank of the directory the better, so when you consider a directory that you have to pay a one time fee of a few dollars to up to a couple of hundred dollars, you have to weigh up the importance of the directory and if it has massive traffic generating potential then go for it.

Free link directories though are worth it to try and submit to when you are starting out online and then the paid submissions can come later on when you are making some money through your efforts.

The more relevant links you have together with important links could make a good impression with Google and the main search engines and even the smaller ones.

I won't add any links here as there are lots of free link directories out there and other sites collect them all, so go and do a search for link directories and submit to the active ones that have a decent page rank (more than a PR3!!)
