How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are tears in the dermis under the skin. They usually develop during times of rapid growth such as puberty, pregnancy, rapid or extreme weight gain, or sometimes rapid muscle growth.

Strech marks are usually pink or reddish when they first develop, and they may fade to silvery or white later. Stretch marks never go away completely on there own.

There are a number of treatments available that work to varying degrees.

  1. 585-nm pulse dye laser treatments have been shown to effectively decrease stretch marks in almost 90% of people treated in a recent study.
  2. A tummy tuck can get rid of the abdominal skin that is affected by stretch marks.
  3. Functional laser resurfacing is another treatment that has been shown to decrease stretch marks by around 75%.
  4. Stretch mark creams may work for some individuals. Although some people don't see any noticeable results, other people do see a marked reduction in stretch marks.

How to Prevent Stretch Marks

Rather than spending time trying to get rid of stretch marks, it's much cheaper and easier to prevent stretch marks from forming at all. There are a couple of effective ways of preventing stretch marks.

  1. Apply Trofolastin cream containing Centella asiatica extract, vitamin E, and collagen-elastin hydrolysates every day.

  2. Alternately, apply Verum cream containing containing vitamin E, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, elastin and menthol daily.
  3. Apply cocoa butter or extra virgin coconut oil daily to keep the skin moisturized and to keep elastin production up.

These methods have all shown to prevent stretch marks from forming to a large extent, but they can't prevent stretch marks completely. Try to keep your weight under control, and apply creams daily during pregnancy.

Nothing works for me i was told by 2 plastic surgeons recently there is nothing they can do for stretch marks but i will still try. I had a tip to buy Vitamin E capsules and burst them and the oil directly on to your skin dont no for sure if it works i'm still tryin it out. X

Laser treatment is probably the most effective treatment. Sadly, nothing will eliminate stretch marks completely. All you can do is reduce them until they are barely noticeable. I used to have really huge red stretch marks before I lost weight, but by using laser therapy and a few other treatments, they are now much smaller and white, so you can barely see them.
