A bad credit car loan includes car loans for people with bad credit. Usually when someone applies for a car loan the company that is giving the loan whether it is a bank, building society or credit union, will usually require the applicant to show a certain amount of evidence to prove that they can repay the loan. This information will usually include proof of identity to prove you are who you say you are, at least two pay slips to prove that you are earning what you say you are earning and information about any other loans or debts that you may have along with the monthly interest that you are paying on each one. But even if you have all of this information, if you are applying for car loans with bad credit, it is unlikely these finance companies will give you a loan.

Bad Credit Rating

How do you get a bad credit rating? Everyone has a credit record where anything that involves loans is recorded. For instance, if you try to get a loan for a car with a particular bank, your application for a loan will be recorded by the bank on your credit record regardless of whether you get it or not. The next time you apply for a loan, the bank you are applying to will check this record to see what sort of credit record you have. So if you have been to many banks for a loan and been rejected by each of them, this will look bad on your credit record because it will automatically get the next bank wondering why you were rejected. And at this point you haven’t even got a loan let alone failed to make a repayment. This is the Clayton’s form of bad credit but will not normally stop you from getting a car loan if you check out on all the other information the bank requests.

More Bad Credit

The next level of bad credit is when you haven’t paid your telephone bill or similar bill and the telephone company records this on your credit record. Again this shows any prospective lender that you are not entirely reliable when it comes to paying your bills and increases the chance that they will see you as a bad risk when it comes to lending you money. Then comes the situation where you have a loan that requires interest payments and whilst you've tried to get money to pay them, you have stopped paying the repayments on the loan. Once again this is recorded on your credit record and if the situation is still occurring, will almost guarantee the bank will reject your application for an auto loan. If that particular loan has been repaid in full, then there is a chance the bank will grant you the loan.

Affordability

If you find yourself in a situation where you have bad credit and so are after a bad credit car loan, then there are still many finance companies that are willing to lend you the money. But this often comes at a cost since the lender will want to make sure they get paid well for taking on the higher risk of giving you a car loan with bad credit and this cost is passed onto you. Usually this will be in the form of higher interest rates so before going out and getting a loan it is worth considering a few points. Firstly, if your bad credit has been caused by an inability to pay loans in the past, will you really be able to make the repayments on a bad credit used car loan now? If you feel that you can’t really afford it then do you really need the car that you want to buy? If you already have a car, will it do? If you don’t already have a car, do you really need one? If you do need the transport can you use public transport or can friends or relatives give you a lift?

Bad Credit Car Loan Companies

If you decide that you can afford one of the car loans for bad credit, or your bad credit was due to a mix up with your gas bill not being paid, then by all means search out a good finance company. The internet will provide a great starting place for this as it is possible to find forums with credit company reviews and people’s experiences with particular credit companies as well as all of the information on each credit company. The credit companies themselves advertise deals on the internet as well. It is important that you do in depth research to make sure you are getting the best deal and won’t be getting ripped off blindly. In particular, read the contract and the fine print of all bad credit car loans that you consider, even if it is a bad credit used car loan and make sure that you can make the repayments so that you don’t end up in a worse credit situation that you already are. Remember, a bad credit car loan is still a loan that you need to be able to service and if you can, then enjoy your new car or used 4x4.
