About the dental insurance

I don’t remember having an problem in my teeth from as long as I remember. Last week I had a tooth ache and I went to the dentist where he suggested me a root canal procedure. I have been to dentists before to get the cleanings done but root canal was something more in fact a lot more. He described me the procedure to do it. And even by listening to it I got even more pain, it sounded so painful. When I asked for the charges I got another shocker. A couple of hundred dollars were too much.

Later that day when my husband came home, I told him the whole story. He was cool about things while I was so panicky since the time I came back. I got to know that I we had a dental insurance cover so the money part was nt the issue anymore.

Before I went to the dentist for my first sitting of the procedure ( I was supposed to be there for three sittings, one per week ). I thought I should better call up dentist to confirm on our dental insurance and how much will we be covered for. That’s when I got another shocker, Even with the dental insurance policy I was not covered for root canal! And that was a Full Coverage dental insurance policy, according to my dear hubby. How smart of him to have paid for something that was nt even of any use. And now I had to go through the pain and also paying the charges of the dentist. Something I hate doing, I am not frugal, infact I am a shopaholic. But paying up where I don’t see much value do pinches me. I guess that is how I am.

Coming back to the insurance, what is the point of having a “full coverage dental insurance policy” when you can not get a cover for something as common a s a root canal. Rob should get a lesson out of this. I did some research on this subject and found out that any dental insurance is commonly perceived to be a full coverage dental insurance when it is not so. There is a difference between the policies and you should know this before hand. Well lesson learned and I guess this is good for all kinds of insurances.
