No matter how many hard times you have been through before the worst thing that anybody can go through is a foreclosure. The reason that this is the worst thing that you can go through is that you have worked hard all of your life to buy a home and now that you hit hard times and can't afford to keep up on your bills the bank goes and takes away your home. This is very devastating for people to go through and while they are going through this they tend to think that they will never bounce back. There is nothing that they can ever do to get themselves out of this bad situation and that their lives are ruined forever. But the good news is that there are some things that you can do to help bounce back from a foreclosure, as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to get back on your feet after a foreclosure.

The one thing that always happens after a foreclosure is that people play the "blame game". Everybody who is going through foreclosure is looking for things or other people to blame their current situation on, you need to let go of this so that you can move forward. One thing that many people don't think about is contacting the mortgage holder to see if you can actually "give the house back" rather than having them come in and take it away from you. This is a very different process, but it can still be just as painful.

You should also check into the laws in your state to see how long you can stay in your home once it has been foreclosed, some states have longer periods of times than others. This is important to do because you are going to need to find another place to live. So while you are looking for a more permanent place to stay you can do it from the comforts of your old home.

One of the hardest things about going through a foreclosure is finding a new place to live. The reason that this is so hard is because of your bad credit, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something available for you it is just a matter of finding the right place. Here are a few options that you should look into, not to mention that some of these options won't even check your credit report.

Option one:
Check out websites like Craigslist or even ones that offer free classifieds. You are going to want to look for an apartment that is for rent by owner, not a large apartment complex. The reason for this is that large apartment complexes are most likely going to run a credit check, but for the most part individual owners will actually base their decision on their impression of you rather than on your credit. But if they do tell you that they want to run a credit check make sure that you tell them about your past and that you are back on your feet now. After explaining what happened ask them if they would approve you. If they say no tell them not to bother with the credit check so that you don't further damage your credit. If this isn't working you can also check the temporary housing or sublet categories on these websites. With these you will be assuming somebody else's apartment or lease so you will just be paying them directly for the most part.

Option two:
You can also look at other websites that offer vacation rentals by owner or something along those lines. These can be rather pricey, but if you stay somewhere out of season or when they do not have a lot of bookings you can get a pretty good price. To find out about the bookings you will need to use the calendar that is provided on the websites. What you want to do is to find a place that has the entire month free and then offer them some kind of reduced rate. The good thing about these is that there are rentals available in pretty much every location and because they are individually owned there are no application or credit checks.

Option three:
If you do not have much money and you are facing living in your car your best option is to live in a campground. In fact today it is actually rather easy to find clean, modern and affordable campgrounds. And depending on how much money you have you can buy a tent for really cheap or spend a few thousand dollars on a used travel trailer. What you are going to want to do is look around for various rates to find the cheapest per night fees on campgrounds that have modern shower and restroom facilities. Although this is going to change your lifestyle a little bit you should still be able to continue working and sending your children to school.

Option four:
If having a foreclosure is the only thing bad on your credit report and the reason that you faced a foreclosure in the first place was due to illness or the sudden loss of a job the chances are high that people will understand and help you get a new place to live. This is where rent to own options can come in or where people will "hold the mortgage". In these situations you will be paying the owner of the house directly and they in turn will be paying the bank. But you want to make sure that you get this down in writing so that you have a legal contract just in case it is ever needed.

Before you start moving you are going to want to scale down on the amount of stuff that you own. The reason for this is that it is a lot easier to move to another place if you have less stuff. Not to mention that when scaling down your stuff and having a yard sale or moving sale you can also raise money that will aid in your moving. If you don't want to sale your stuff because it is stuff that you are going to need you can also look into a storage unit, as long as you can afford it. These4 places are great to store your stuff until you find a more permanent place to stay.

Now that you have gotten the physical side of getting on your feet after a foreclosure handled you need to figure out what happened exactly, basically where things went wrong. This is important because you are going to want to make sure that you avoid these mistakes in the future once you buy a house again. And yes even after you have faced a foreclosure it is still possible to buy a house. Once you have figured out what went wrong you are going to want to devise a plan so that you can better manage your money. One of the best things that you can do to better manage your money is to create a budget and then stick to it. You are also going to want to make sure that you put some money aside and learn to live without things that are not necessary, so basically you need to learn how to cut back on useless spending.

You are also going to need to realize that you are not the only person in the world to be facing a foreclosure. In fact in today's economy the amount of foreclosures seems to grow by the day. You can actually walk through neighborhoods and see a ton of homes in various states of foreclosures. One way to get over the fact that you are facing foreclosure is to seek out other people who have faced foreclosure and rebounded from it. You might be surprised to find out that there are actually support groups available for people who are facing foreclosure. So make sure that you seek out these support groups so you can learn some tips and tricks on how to cope with life after a foreclosure.

Finally you are going to need to sit down with your family and come up with some kind of a plan for what you are going to do. If you don't sit down and explain things to the people in your family then you will be fighting an uphill battle getting them to go along with what you plan on doing. You need to talk about if you want to buy a house again someday and if so you need to become educated about mortgages and how to obtain one so that you won't get stuck in a bad spot the next time around. Basically you just need to have faith that things will work out and not dwell on the past because there is nothing you can do to change it.
