1. Cleanse face at least twice a day with an all natural or homemade cleanser.
Here are two examples:
Coconut oil cleanser
3tsp coconut oil
1tsp olive oil
1tsp glycerin
2tsp water
Method
Melt ingredients together in a double boiler; when melted, remove from heat and beat with a whisk for five minutes; transfer to jar when cooled.
Sweet oil scrub
1tbsp olive oil
2tbsp dark brown sugar
Mix in a small bowl; apply to face; using a circular motion massage into face for 2-3 minutes; then rinse with a warm cloth and water; pat skin dry with a towel.
2. Use a good toner after each time you cleanse.
A good example of an all natural toner is a one part water and one part vinegar mix. Vinegar helps exfoliate skin and also kills bacteria as well as balances the ph of your skin.
3. Find a good monthly facial mask.
I like to use Aztec secret’s “Indian Healing clay.” It works to pull impurities out of the skin as well as pull circulation up to the skin. Break outs are normal afterward but if you can hang in there it will eventually pull all that nasty stuff out.
4. Try to stay away from makeup
If you can’t or won’t (lol this one is even hard for me) at least try to stay away from makeup that is oil based; those types of makeup clog pores and won’t help you in your efforts to gain a clear complexion.
5. Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins!
Vitamins C&E- counter the effects of exposure and reduce the damage caused by free radicals.
Vitamin B super complex- among these biotin is the most important because it forms the basis of skin, nail, and hair cells.
6. Sweat it out
At least once a week steam your face by boiling water, transfer it into a bowl and then lean over the bowl with a towel over your head for about 10-15 minutes. Try not to get your face to close to the hot water. The steam works to melt all of the dirt and oil in your pores. Make sure you have an astringent at the ready because once you done you’re going to want to wipe your face off immediately.
