Getting started with change? Try a snack wrap
55Change, it's something we always promise... Yet it's so hard to break the nasty habits that we have. Throughout my life I've encountered people who always want to constantly change. Whether it be a change in diet, in habits, in work ethic, or even in stereotypes it really could be anything. Sure it's a good start but how often does your feet get off the ground once that statement is made? Trust me it's not easy and everyone knows that taking the first step is always the highest step.
So with my experience, taking the first step is usually asking yourself why you want to change. Honestly, if you can't convince yourself with a reason worth fighting for, then why fight? Anyway, Why do you want to change? Because you're unhappy? You want to live a healthier lifestyle? Make more money?
These days it's pretty easy, everyone follows trends. I noticed that all the big fast-food companies (in my area) have been investing in something called a "snack wrap" right after one of those companies started to make all this money off of it. It apparently became a big hit. This is just a good example of how it starts, you see someone else being all successful with all their success and flaunting it in your face. Then you become inspired and you want to become better and more successful. (or at least that was the case for me) Please don't make your reason be "I want to be like Mike". Instead make it more along the lines of, "I want to be great, skinny, successful, sexy, brilliant, etc. etc." Become the person you want to be, not someone else. Yet at the same time, let them inspire you to reach your goals. (Does that sound confusing?)
To make change happen, it's a different story. I mean, how long do you think it took the inventor to come up with something like a "snack wrap." You probably laughed at that, but the truth is, it probably took a lot. For instance how did he know that people were going to enjoy this thing called a "snack wrap"? It probably took him forever to ball up the confidence to present this product to the big boys in the corporate world. Once that was done, he probably had to figure out how to get his tasty product into the hands of consumers (for a reasonable price). This probably took hours of thinking of witty humor to put into commericals and such. Basically the point is, part of changing is believing in yourself and knowing that you can do it. After you got that out of the way, the rest is working hard to get to where you want to be. Trust me, you really can do it!
Once you've got your inspiration and confidence. The last thing to keep yourself in the nice happy position is consistency with a touch of improvement. It's important because once change happens, no one wants to go back to their old ways. Going back to the "snack wrap", after all of them invested in this product, they only made it better by adding flavors like chipotle and honey mustard. Not only that, I feel like their shoving it in my face all the time making sure that consumers like me, know that it's there for me to purchase between the values of $1.00 and $1.50 (before tax). Point being, be consistent with your change, show yourself that you changed for good. Also, don't stop improving yourself after you change. There's really no limit to how much improved you can get and maybe you'll come in different flavors (like ranch).
So all in all, change is good. I truely believe that everyone can change, just as long as they're inspired, confident, and dedicated. With those three you can be an unstoppable changing force and I truely hope that in the end, you're happy with yourself. Only because, that's probably the only thing that matters when it comes to change.
