Getting Warmer is a charming romance novel written by Carol Snow. The main character is Natalie and she is a woman on the verge of turning thirty, but she seems to have a very hard time learning how to tell the truth. Lies may seem harmless at the beginning, but there are consequences for every lie.
It Begins With a Lie:
Natalie is teaches is a new teacher who is beginning to find her niche in the profession. She went through a bad break-up and decided to move to Arizona to teach, but her plans in life may have been different if it were not for this event. Natalie salary as a teacher is so miniscule, which forces her to llive at home with her parents because she cannot afford her own place. Natalie and her co-workers pals get stressed out on the job from time to time, so they like to go to the local bar and lie about their real lives to strangers. It seems like harmless fun at first, but one night Natalie meets a man she wishes she had not lied to. Her new beau ends up becoming a serious love interest and Natalie finds herself in deeper and deeper water. Instead of coming clean and just telling Jonathan that she is really a high school teacher, she concocts an elaborate story about being a teacher at a woman's prison. It all comes to a head with Jonathon learns the truth and breaks off the relationship, but you will have to read the book to find out what happens next. I suggest you go to the local library and check it out because you will save money if you decide this book is not worth buying. Go to the computer catalogue and type in Getting Warmer in the title search egine and ask a friendly librarian to help you find the book. Getting Warmer will usually be shelved under S for Snow in adult fiction. See, I told you find a fiction book at the library was not as hard as you thought!
To Lie or Not to Lie:
Mostly I enjoyed this story because I could identify with some of the things the character has gone through. I have never lied to people like Natalie, but the frustration of being almost thirty, single, and looking for the ideal relationship. This book is fun because it tries not to take itself too seriously, while still touching on some important issues along the way. It was a fun, quick, and easy read. However, I think the biggest lesson anyone can take away from this book is learning not to lie. The truth will get you much farther than the harmless white lies you are tempted to give. I try to remember the golden rule and if I cannot say something totally nice, objective, and constructive, I prefer to remain silent. Getting Warmer is a charming book that teaches us the power of telling the truth.
