Ghosts are they Fact or Fiction? Experiences?

OK, i`m 19 and have decided to go to a town called Kinsale in the south of Ireland for the weekend with some friends...ZZZZZIIIIPPPPP we get there and book into a youth hostel on the outskirts of the town. The youth hostel is about 200 yards from an old English fort built around the 1700 hundreds and the scene of many famous Irish battles with the british.
Well we spent saturday exploring the fort which is located on a cliff over looking the sea. The fort is supposed to be haunted by a white lady who fell from the wall of the fort on the night of her wedding after hearing of the death of her husband,but thats another story and is supposed to be seen walking the ramparts looking for her lost lover.
So sat night we sort of went in over the wall at closing time ( back then life revolved around PUB Closing time) to view the white lady, well it must have been her night off and so disappointed and slightly relieved we went back to the hostel around 12.30 am and retired to the men's dorm and i to the top bunk and the land of nod ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Sometime in the early am 2 0r 3 I woke up and sensed somthing in the dorm . I rubbed my eyes and there standing next to my bunk on my left side was a figure dressed in a British army officers uniform.He looked like he was from the WW1 era . He had dirty white blood stained bandage over his left eye.
I was scared to death and I froze , he did not move just stood there staring right through me like i was not there.Then I did the only thing I could do, stuck my head under the pillow and covered myself with my sleeping bag praying he would go away. And there I stayed until morning and welcome day light.
As I was helping to cook breakfast that morning I asked the Hostel warden if she had ever seen anything unusual in the dorms or building. She told me that she and many others had seen the ghost of a British army officer and described what I had seen. She informed me that the hostel used to be belong to "Charles fort" the fort we had visited and was used to billet officers. For the life of me know I can`t remember if she told me how he died only that we had both seen the same image....
Well there you have it...I thought i was going to see the Ghost of the white lady at the "Charles Fort" and instead had my own personal visitation and I did not forget that in a hurry . I guess you could say it was an Historical weekend to remember!

Funny somtimes i wonder if ghosts are just peolpe who never made it to heaven and being trapped here is there personal hell and as hell and heaven are two totaly different dimenisions/ truth is i really dont know, only God does! well i guess the jury is out on that one?

I wonder about that too!! But what happens if it wasn't your time ?? Where do we go? Or is it actually the time that God gives us? In any case we are Blessed to have all of the time he has given us.:) When you get a chance read A letter from Satan" it took me a long time to write it, after someone sent it to me , but it clearly lets you know I am not ashamed of our God, it was only an eye opener. If I were in your shoes, I would be scared to death too. I am a scaredy cat. LOL I know of a few people though (including kids) who can see "spirits" and I guess they have the gift or what we call the "third eye." Hmmm, I am wondering is this your first encounter with spirits?

No your right its not, that i think was the first Ghost and there have been others.Never heard of the third eye thing before. But since i was a kid I have had all sorts of visions etc and then when I got out of religion and into a real realitionship with God It all began to make sense, that we live in a supernatural realm Good and evil...Good being God and evil being Satan. I do not claim to understand it all and I will have a lot of questions to ask God when i get to heaven LOL.....anyway thanks for your great comments !!!!!

Ahhhh (grin) I thought so! :) LOL Yes the 'spirit world' or supernatural realm seems to be a mystery. But it does exist since quite a number of people can see them. I remember one time, my sis-in-law said that while I was away on a trip, she came into my room and 'saw' somebody there. When I came back, I said aloud to the spirit, "thank you for watching over my room while I was away." LOL I don't have that gift to be able to see (not my desire hehe) but sometimes can sense a presence though. To the wonder of the unknown, have a great day ahead of you!

When I was about 14 and living in Ireland I was reading the Sunday paper and a photo stood out to me. it was a pic of the managing editor and I just knew that he was going to die that week. 5 days later he was killed in a plane crash on his way to France. for years these kind of things would happen to me and still do, but back then I had no idea why. A lot of people where not to sure how to take me, but God has given me this gift and I do not take it lightly and I,m no longer afriad of being rejected because of it.
My deepest desire is to see others released in their true giftings and free to live the wonderful life God has given them.
I read recently that all roads do not nessiarly lead to God ,but that he made a road to us...think i got that right LOL

Hi Mike, thanks for your sharing. I guess having certain gifts make us feel odd especially when people do not know what to make of us. My gift on "healing" or (in reality helping people heal themselves) also brought me into several situations that made me cry. :( People can sometimes be mean, you know. And I had a hard time handling it before. But YEY, the joy is not being afraid anymore (of rejection and etc) because of this gift. And I believe God has just sent you to me so I could finally start my hub about that. LOL

I personally have never encountered any such ghostly experiences. But still I am scared to venture out alone to old unused houses or strange places. Maybe the fear in us makes us see things. I don't believe nor deny the existence of ghosts.

When I decided to give my life into Gods hands and follow him I learned very quickly that the word coincident no longer existed! Gods love is like a mighty but gentle flowing river and he invites us to throw caution to the wind and jump in and trust.
For the longest time I would hold onto the river bank, but in the end the current of the river became to strong and so I had to make a choice, either climb out to what I knew to be safe yet dull and mundane or let go and let the river carry me where ever.
So I let go YYYYYAAAAAYYYY and drifted out into the strong of the current of his powerful love!!!!!
Thus began the greatest adventure of my life and the meeting of a person I had never met, the real unafraid me, who could be bold, strong - yet humble!!! But most of all free , free to explore, climb to new heights, dive to new depths, and most of all fly high above my fears and look down and see them for what they truly are …nothing at all LOL
To borrow a well know phrase…To boldly go where no man has gone before! Deep inside to the real us and once there Trust God and him alone to heal and restore us…
Ok, going on and on….let me just say :0) its great to be on the true road to freedom and have the pleasure of meeting new wonderful friends like you :0) and someday we will all get to sit down in heaven and enjoy its beauty because we where willing to pay a price back on earth

One of the greatest things about life is we get to experiance all sorts of supernatural unexplainable moments, but in those moments good or bad we are truly present and alive and experiancing fear or Joy !

I am sorry I didn't mean to question your experience. All I meant was that once when I was a kid we(myself and rajeev) went to an old unoccupied house I felt the windows cranking and something fell in the other room. I was really scared and we ran out of that house. I told my mother and she told me it was due to our fear we felt like that. My mother told me there are no such things as ghosts. But that's the closest to any "ghostly" experience I ever had.
Please pray that those "unexplainable moments" in life lead me to experience joy only and not fear.
P.S: I don't have my mother around me to give me a hug and stop me from shaking with fear.

Yes I will glady pray for you that God will bring you into a place of boldness and true love and strenght in Him... Human love lets us down time and time again, i truly believe God designed it that way so that we would be complete in him and him alone.
I have been without parents and close family these last 20 years and during that time I have allowed him to love me and touch and Heal those parts I would not allow anyone else to touch......so much so that when i met my wife Cynthia i had a whole person to offer her and yet even though we love each other very much...my love for God is much deeper :0)

Ok Most of our fears never happen when you really think about it. In fact fear will paralyze us or render us imobile from acting or living out our God given live`s.
On the other hand a healthy fear! eg A holy fear of God, our Parents, The law etc can be a good thing.
Soldiers in a battle situation have to learn how to function in fear and not let it control them.
So the Fear Acronym realates to a false fear Like i laid out in the first sentances above of this comment and is not real it is False , evendance, appearing , Real..( Boy I wish Ihad spell check here LOL)
This is the one satan the great deciver use`s most , he does not want you to grow and live a healhty life or realize your dreams or God given talents.
God on the other hand gives you the courage and strenght to face your fears and all you have to do is ask him to give you the faith to face your fears...am I confusing you??????

Nice information was given in your hub. Since my childhood I have one dount. Ghosts are there or not? Till now I have not get any answer. Why because I dont have any personal experience with ghosts.

Thanks for the explanation of fear. Right after reading your hub yesterday I read a strange news that an Indian airport (bangalore) is haunted by ghosts. This new airport was built on a graveyard. I guess from skeptic I am turning into a believer. I saw a video a while ago about a ghost in gas station jumping around I thought that was a prank. All these years I have tried to shut out the belief in existence of ghosts.
Then the next logical questions that come to my mind is: why does someone become a ghost? If there are ghosts then do they only target a few individuals? what is their purpose? And finally how do we react when we are actually confronted?
P.S: I hope I am not asking too many questions and taking your valuable time.

Why does someone become a ghost? If there are ghosts then do they only target a few individuals? What is their purpose? And finally how do we react when we are actually confronted? Boy this is not any easy question to answer, infact it’s been the topic of debate around many a camp fire down through the centuries.There are references to ghosts in every culture.To say that I know why, how and what is there purpose would be playing the role of God almighty and I’m not God :0) However, there is always a however! In my short life time upon this earth I have experienced the super natural many times; both good and bad and in my limited experience I will try to shed some light on the subject. Ok, from my point of view everything has a starting point and also something to measure it by. And it is what we choose to use as our measuring method determines what we believe about what we are seeing or feeling,, confused yet :0)Starting point…God is the creator of both Good and evil.
Measuring tool….everything is measured against God.
So God created life as I know it and with that he gave us free will. To either accept or reject him.
Those of us that accept him and let him love us unconditionally live on forever with him in heaven when we die and our souls go to be with him.
Those of us that reject his love and gift of eternal life in heaven go to a place called hell which is eternal separation from Gods Love.
Now Satan is the ruler of hell and because he wanted to take gods kingdom from him, God cast him down here to earth…so sad to say this is Satan’s kingdom.
So then we who believe and accept Gods love through his son Jesus become full of his glorious light and therefore we become light in darkness.
In others words If Satan is Darkness and evil and the earth is his kingdom, then when we become christens we become light in darkness. Right...con fused yet LOL
Now I have never met a Ghost yet that has been full of light and Joy, nor heard of one, all the stories are of poor tortured souls and once in a while not, but most are and also they are all confined to haunt just one area, they do not seem to be able to relocate to another house etc. sounds like hell to me.
Interestingly enough when I have gone to someone’s house and sensed their presence and then prayed and asked it to go in the name of Jesus and it has left or they…I just had this happen in the last year at a friends house…she had not told me about it. I was cleaning the carpets just before they moved in and could feel it very strongly and knew I was not alone. So I asked the Holy Spirit to show me how to pray and he did and it left. The next day when my friend arrived she told me the house felt so peaceful and so I told her what had happened and she told me that she and her grandmother had heard it walking around…it has never come back.
This has happened many times and each time as I seek God and call on the name of Jesus they leave and never return.
So in my experience I not everyone else believes Ghosts are poor tortured souls.
Now in the case of a loved one who just died coming into your room at night etc to say good bye or reassure you they are ok …that seems to happen around the time of their death and never again, in my experience.
So country women I hope this has been of some help and if not ask some more:0)

I will also pray for the poor souls who have to endure being a ghost, as and when I am confronted (Hopefully that helps and not like evildead movie ghosts who are out to finish you).
