Ghosts are they Fact or Fiction? Experiences?

I wish I could say ghosts are fictious. Yet, I have seen ghosts many times to say so.

When I was young, I lived in a Chinese community where beliefs of ghosts and spirits were common. Every now and then I would see groups of elder women praying by the side of the road; burning candles, joss sticks and paper money. They also served various types of food, ranging from cooked chicken to fruits and vegetables.

They would leave the place after they had their ritual. Of course, they left all the food behind. I would watch from far as a group of 'people' came and 'eat' those food. Actually, they did not eat like normal people. They 'licked' and 'smelt' the food. I was amazed that those who licked the food really had long tongues! Later, I was told those food were sacrifices or gifts from the family members for these 'wandering ghosts'.

The next incident was about a former neighbour and his wife. That man was a compulsive gambler. He would waste all his time and money at the mah-jong table when he was not working. I often saw his wife followed him where ever he went. I was puzzled when that man never seemed to notice her presence.

One day, the man was found dead in his own home. He hanged himself in his room. As neighbours, my family and I attended his funeral. I saw his wife there too, but nobody else seemed to notice her. The woman did not seem to notice me at all. She was crying all the time.

Then I asked another neighbor about the man's wife. "His wife? She died many years ago and left him all her money. He became a gambler after that!" I swore I saw his wife with my own eyes!

Of course, nobody can be my witness as I sometimes can see what others can't. It is not so scary. It just need getting accustomed to. Ghosts do exist, it is what you choose to believe that would determine your level of sighting them!

I've had experiences that remain unexplainable, along the lines of sensing a presence, and seeing things move at times they shouldn't, that sort of thing. Never visually seeing someone. My husband, daughter and I regularly visit a restaurant that is known to be haunted. I would love for something to happen there. I am very comfortable there. (I've actually written a hub that includes a video of this place. It's in my Top 3 Things to do in Waxahachie hub).
