Gieco is discrimating

 I really think Gieco insurance company leaves a lot to be desired, both in its product, and its hiring practices. I called Gieco to get a quote for car insurance, just to see if they could save me any money. After 15 minutes of the customer service rep, asking  questions that really didn't have anything to do with insurance, I was given a quote of $150 a month. This was a quote for a paid for Suv. I informed the rep that I currently pay $90 a month for complete coverage. they informed me it is due to the fact I do not have a credit score.  I advised the rep I pay cash for everything, and do not believe in credit cards or financing things. I asked the rep why would I be penalized for being fiscally responsible?

           I had the experience of speaking to a supervisor who thought he could doubletalk and bamboozle me. In a nutshell he stated that its abnormal to not be in debt, and a credit score tells them how responsible a driver that a person will be. As the conversation progressed he informed me people with no credit or very bad credit would not be desirable employees for Gieco as well. I informed this person what he was stating is discrimatory, and could probably get his company sued. This individual stated its company policy, and we never been sued for our policies.

            When does ones credit report, reveal a persons driving ability or what kind of employee that they will be. Credit or lack there of should not dictate one's insurance rates. Having auto insurance is the law, and this company policy and treatment of customers or potential customers is disgraceful. It is also discriminating  not to hire someone based on their credit report. The fact that someone does not have a credit score or poor credit, should not hinder their chances for getting employed. Last time I checked no or poor credit isn't a crime, if a potential employer has a concern about someones level of integrity they should polygraph the potential employee. This would clear up any doubt, and the company and the person both win.
