Abington Heights For the past three years, Riley Calpin has asked for one thing when a gift-giving occasion like her birthday or Christmas rolls around: dog and cat food. When she was 6, she visited an animal shelter with her family to adopt a dog. She s

Christmas times are here again. Once again it is the time to give and receive gifts and enjoy with the whole family. Receiving gifts is itself a great matter of enjoyment. But if we can make it more interesting then the Christmas fun can be enhanced. Why not try turning the gift-giving into a game? This has been established as a very popular Christmas fun for the whole family.

Here are few popular ones.

  • One of the most popular games is hiding the gifts. Wrap up the gifts in various wrappers, put the name labels on them and hide them at different places in the house. When the time comes, let everybody seek his or her own label to get the gift. It can really be a hilarious fun as most of the people will bump into another’s gift and will be in a peculiar position as whether to help out that person or keep it a secret.
  • How about playing a fun game? Choose a simple gift, but make sure that is the oddest gift for the person. Say a piece of hair decoration for your bald grandfather. Of course this is apart from the real gift that you have chosen. Get it neatly wrapped up like all other gifts. Then all the members are called up and asked to open any gift after calling out the name of the recipient. But he or she cannot choose his or her one. Just watch the whole family bursting into laughter as each of the gifts is opened.
  • You can organize a game when giving gifts at your kid’s Christmas party. Just make sure that more or less all the gifts are similar in nature. The best way to avoid giving a doll to a boy and a car to a girl is to choose toys that are appreciated by both. Wrap them up in beautiful wrappers and start the game of passing the parcel. Let them stand in a ring and give them one gift at a time to pass on. Start music and stop it suddenly. The person with the gift gets it. He or she then retires from the game and the game goes on with the others till all the children receive their gifts.

We need some games for when our Block Watch gets together, so the kids have activities to do during our meetings. Great ideas here in your games hubs, thanks
