Five Great Gift Ideas for Three Year Old Girls
My daughter will be turning three in November so I'm planning my gift for her early. Here are my top five gift ideas for a three year old girl. These gift suggestions should be good for birthdays, Christmas or just being nice.
- Cinderella Dress up kit and book. My daughter is a girly girl that loves dresses, glass shoes and headbands. So, I think a Cinderella dress, book and video would make a nice gift for a three year old girl.
- Bat and ball. At three years old, kids are getting coordinated enough that they can catch and swing. It's a good age to help them develop these skills. A softball bat, ball, glove and tee is a nice gift if the girl has interest in it. Also, swinging a bat is good for hand eye coordination, but sometimes three year olds will hit other kids with the bat, so you have to be a little careful.
- Water soluable art supplies. Three year olds can be quite creative and are getting to the age where they can concentrate long enough to color. However, they'll often take pens and cranyons to their skin and walls, so it's best if the markers are water soluable and non-toxic which makes it easy to clean up.
- Sweatsuits and running shoes. I have a thing for little kids in sweatsuits and running shoes. I think they look soooo cute. Kids usually love them as well because they are soft, cozy. and easy for them to put on. For the running shoes that go with it, I'd recommend velcro so they can put them on themselves. Nike and Adidas make some great sweatsuits for little girls.
- Goldfish. Lots of little kids love pets and goldfish are an excellent pet to start with. It teaches them how to care for things and gives them responsibility. It's an inexpensive gift as well since fishbowls are usually available at thrift stores and gold fish are less than $1 I believe.
Bonus gift ideas for three year old girls include.
- Books with pictures.
- Games that teach letters. There are toys that say the letter's name when they are placed in the holder.
- Hairbrushes, combs, ribbons and bows.

I would suggest something even simpler. She will have a great deal of fun with a large empty box! My kids are also much older but, a simple box can make a great deal of fun!

My Great Niece will be turning 3 and it is good to have new ideas.
Thank you Paul. Laurie
Hi Paul!!
Lovely to see you getting a head start with Ms. J!! I liked your ideas, especially the ones that could be for either a boy or girl!! We can inadvertently become so sexist with the toys we give kids! I voted art supplies (alas I am an artist) but it was a close call with a goldfish!!
Robin looks like a movie star with her new hair!!
Blessings always, Earth Angel Sapphire!!
My daughter loves both the Cinderella dress up kit and the bat and ball set. She is a real tom boy princess. I haven't had much luck with goldfish though. There is nothing like explaining death the day after Christmas to a 6 year old. The replacement fish kept committing suicide, so I have given up on the fish.

Paul,
Well done! My girls are a bit older, so electronic games like SIMS and iPods are the desired gifts now. Your daughter has a great Dad, who takes time, and is thoughtful in selecting just the right gift for the event.
