Gilgit is a found in the North east of Pakistan . For thousands of years the city has been a focal point of trade and political events as long ago as 1^st century AD.  Gilgit is encircled by the massive mountains of Karakorums

Gilgit is a tiny valley and beyond it  there is no other large  town or city for at least  450 Kilometers in any direction. Gilgit is also the administrative and business capital of Northern areas.

Gilgit has lovely green orchids of various fruits and this is a  striking contrast to the ruggedness on the mountains which are topped with white snow--something common in Pakistan.
