Skateboarding is obviously my passion in life, and being a girl I definitely have gotten some strange looks. But what I have discovered is that girl skateboarding is becoming a lot more popular and girls are starting to skate just as hard as guys.

I thought that I would write this article to let girls know what is offered to them out there. Starting off there is The Side Project and they do a lot of girl skateboarding workshops up here in Northern California/Bay Area. So if you live in that area definitely check out their myspace and see when they will be near you.

Next I have Girl Rider Organization and they have traveled all over the United States doing workshops and going to contests. I would say this is a great one to check out because they go everywhere so they may come to where you are, and even if they aren't doing a workshop they are sure to be at a skateboarding contest such as GvR.

Skate Like a Girl is becoming pretty well known as well, and they are located in Seattle, Washington. They just did a girl contest called Wheels of Fortune, which had a pretty big turn out. So if you live in that area check them out, or even if you plan on visiting!

Lastly I wanted to mention a friend of mine named Bonnie. She has decided to put her skateboarding skills to great use. Both of her parents are hearing impaired, and in Maryland where she is from, they haven't put enough money in to hearing and vision impaired schools. So she has decided to skate this coming summer from Baltimore, Maryland to Florida and if that goes well she will skate for Florida to California.
