Business gifts are gifts that are given from a person or group of people from a business to a co-worker or employer. Often a business gift will be engraved with the logo or text of the company you are working for. Sometimes this is not the case though. Appropriate business gifts can also be given without being personalized. They may be something for the office or work that is an object to be used at the desk or perhaps displayed in the office space.

Some reasons for giving business gifts could be any of the following: employment anniversary, retirement, a corporate award, a job well-done, Christmas, or possibly a birthday.

Giving business gifts can be a touchy thing. There are several points to keep in mind when considering giving business gifts to a co-worker or employer. You will want to pay heed to these to avoid getting yourself into any trouble or to prevent any bad feelings between you as the giver and the recipient.

Tips for Giving Business Gifts:

  1. Do not give something that is off-color or contains a sexual message or racial slur. Doing this will get you into a serious amount of trouble. Not only could you get fired for harassment, but you could also be liable to a suit.
  2. Buy business gifts that are suitable for the occasion. For example, a good retirement gift may be a plaque with an engraving that commemorates the retirees years of service by listing the date they started work and the number of years of service.
  3. To not appear as though you are brown-nosing, if planning to give birthday business gifts to your boss, it may be a good idea to get some other co-workers to go in on it with you. Then you can have the card signed by everyone and there will be no ill-feeling among your co-workers and you will also have some help to share the expense.
  4. Do not make the recipient feel uncomfortable. It can be awkward giving business gifts if you are not doing it for an appropriate occasion or event. If there is no reason, the recipient may wonder why you are giving them something and feel obligated or even harassed. There is a fine line that you should not cross. Each situation should be judged individually. Get a feel for the person and whether you would be over-stepping your bounds by giving them something.

Now we will discuss some options available for giving business gifts at work. A lot of these options come in a high quality material like leather or nicely refinished wood. They are often all suitable for either engraving or having an embroidered or printed label affixed which is personalized with the company name, occasion and/or date.
