Imagine the world’s ocean levels rising over twenty feet, causing widespread flooding and damage across the world.  John Stossel has adequately shown that even though Nobel Peace Prize winner, Al Gore, has made statements saying that the global warming debate is over, a debate still clearly exists over global warming today.  Interviews with ICSS members, a mix of scientific study data, and polar bear species data show that the global warming debate still rampages on.  John Stossel has shown a wide amount of data in favor of both sides of global warming and has shown that a debate over it truly exists.

            John Stossel interviewed a group of former ICSS scientists, whom stated their opinions on the matter of global warming.  The group, ICSS, has been known for being a strong group of scientists against global warming, but the group Stossel interviewed shed  some light upon the group.  ICSS actually comprises of just a few scientists and a large group of activists, such as though that participate in Green Peace.  The scientists interviewed by Stossel stated that they resigned from ICSS because their views conflicted with that of the global warming activists.  Some resigned scientists even had to threaten to sue ICSS because the group published the resigned scientists’ names in official documents in favor of global warming and wouldn’t remove their names off of the list.  Some debate within ICSS clearly has existed and resigned members carry on the debate today.

            Recent scientific studies, in regards to global warming, have sparked up some debate.  While Al Gore and other global warming advocates have said that a trend involving carbon dioxide emissions and temperature exists, with carbon dioxide the cause of temperature rise, further analysis of the statistics actually present temperature rise as the cause of carbon dioxide emissions!  Al Gore also stated that, within the next ten to twenty years, the ocean level could rise by twenty feet.  Scientists now state that, in the next 100 years, the ocean could rise anywhere from seven to twenty four inches, a much smaller margin.  Debate definitely exists over the statistics involved with global warming.

            Another key aspect that supports prevention of global warming is the effects that global warming has on the environment and animals.  Recent studies have shown that the polar bear population is actually quite stable!  Al Gore and other global warming prevention scientists and activists have claimed that more and more polar bears have been drowning due to the melting of polar ice caps in Greenland and the poles.  This could be attributed to the statistics that Gore’s team came up with for the rise of ocean levels in the next few years, viewed as dramatically incorrect.  Heated debate still looms between global warming views, much hidden from the public.
