Do you believe in Man-Made Global warming? Well, you shouldn't!
Why?
You don't need a huge think-tank to see through the propaganda. Here's how to figure out the truth for yourself:
1. Have you looked at your own outside thermometer? Record lows and snow storms abound.
2. Seventh grade physics shows that CO2's molecular weight makes it very heavy. It can't rise high enough to cause the greenhouse effect.
Yes, there is a greenhouse effect, but it's mostly caused by water vapor! H2O is much lighter than CO2.
3. College freshman statistics will show you that the error rate in temperature samples used is greater than the claimed temperature rise.
4. Glaciers in Greenland have recently been shown to be getting thcker, not thinner. Same with antarctic ice, which is never mentioned by warming alarmists.
5. Stories of polar bears declining are lies, according to our government's own figures.
6. CO2 is plant food! When the earth was young, there was very little free oxygen. It was poisonous to the few life forms here (primitive bacteria and plants). It increased to today's levels partly as exhaust from plants and partly from a few comets "visiting."
7. Clearing of forests happens only where governments own the forest. Private ownership of forests results in cyclical growing and cutting. They don't waste the economic value of their own land! Take a look at the huge forests in Georgia and Florida, owned by Weyerhauser & other lumber companies.
8. Sunspot activity is in a cycle in which it reduces warming radiation from the sun. This is actually causing a cooling cycle.
9. What about recent record cold temperatures and snow storms?
10. Why is it that the big scares always mean big profits for companies connected to governments. E.g. GE owns NBC, which is scaring us. But GE makes big dollars from sales of generators, nuclear, windmills, and solar to governments.
11. Those who want US to completely change our lives are immune. How about Al Gore making his millions - driving his SUVs, owning several energy inefficient HOMES, plura. He tells us to stop using gas, while he is private-jetting around to give big money speeches?
12. We're supposed to forget similar false fears. Many of the same companies made big money off the "ozone layer" scam. Remember that one? It has also proven false. But, the media which scared us about it has remained silent. Instead, they come up with a new scary theory.
13. About 7 years ago, the same government-connected scientists and insiders were trying to scare us with the coming ice age. Remember that?
14. Volcanoes and the ocean are by FAR larger sources of CO2 and other "greenhouse" gases. Many, many, many multiples of the amounts we exhaust.
15. NASA was actually caught faking "warming" data. They simply copied September temperatures and submitted the same figures for October. They then claimed October was the hottest it's been in decades.
If "Global Warming" is true, why fudge figures? I am very skeptical when someone - especially a government insider - is trying to scare me and grab my wallet at the same time.
Fear is used to turn off the logical part of your brain. It makes you an easier "mark."
So, beware of the scare! Don't believe "officials" just because of their title.
Just think for yourself! Please!

The interesting thing about Al Gore and Bill Clinton, was they didn't start their big green campaigns until well after they had their investments in place in the companies that would benefit most from their endorsements. I don't get into the global warming debate for the simple fact that I know that reality is just the collective illusion. So I stay away from it. But I am a follow the money kind of guy and all those guys money went green before their mouths did. Take it for what its worth.

I am terribly interested in where a person who thinks only for him/herself aquires Data on global warming without consulting someone or something else.
Global warming could very well have been considered a legitimate concern by reputable scientists before CNN got involved. I can hardly blame someone for doubting the evidence of global warming as it has been chopped up and slanted in so many ways to provide a great deal of confusion for the masses.
Believe what you will, as always, but I warn you to be prepared to back up claims such as "Volcanoes and the ocean are by FAR larger sources of CO2 and other "greenhouse" gases. Many, many, many multiples of the amounts we exhaust." lest you become guilty of that which you speak against.

Sorry KutWrite, but you have made a few mistakes there -
The greenhouse effect is a little bit of a misnomer - CO2 does not make a physical barrier, like a garden greenhouse, but retains heat at the earth's surface. It does not need to rise high into the atmosphere.
Currently, the ocean is a net sink for CO2 - it absorbs much more than it releases. This is slowly acidifying the oceans and changing ecosystems. Volcanoes release about 100 million tons per year - humanity contributes much more than that.
Global Warming is not the same as climate change. There are different climate patterns eg unseasonal snow and rain, but the overall temperature is rising. No scientist disagrees upon that, whichever 'side' of the debate they are on.
The question is how much of the temperature rise is generated by humanity and how much is due to natural fluctuations - that is a completely different issue. The temperature is rising, but the data does not make it clear whether this is an effect of CO2 emissions or a normal warming of the Earth after an Ice-Age period.
Personally, after reviewing the evidence, I believe that humanity is having an effect, but I certainly would not gamble on it! Maybe 70:30 convinced, if you know what I mean.
As Scott says, the media and propaganda have destroyed any chance of reasonable debate. As a scientist, I hate the fact that BOTH sides of the argument manipulate research. I detest Al Gore as much as you - people like him have politicised the debate beyond recognition. I walked out of 'An Inconvenient Truth' after about 15 minutes!
To again repeat Scott, it is difficult enough to find solid research even when you know what you are looking for. To find a good source on the Internet is virtually impossible, so believe nothing that you read online. The real answer, as stated above, is that nobody is sure one way or another. I certainly count myself amongst that number.
I have seen people totally trust anything and everything they read online and tell those things to be the absolute truth. Even change their lives because of it. Kinda scary. My grandmother always told me not to believe 99% of what I hear and 95% of what I see. She wanted me to research things myself I guess. She was not easily persuaded by gossip etc. I wonder if that's why she was as peace so much of her life.
Global warming is the crises which gives the government more control over the activities of the individual. It's a sham.
Your Grandmother was a wise lady, ASU. The problem is that it is difficult to research things that you do not understand - this was my degree, so I know what to look for.
I am not trying to sound arrogant - merely state that it is an area in which I have training.

Rob - Global Warming is happening, but nobody is certain whether it is a natural process or man-made. The data could be read both ways.
Just because the politicians have got hold of it does not make it a sham. The answer is that nobody is certain.

Good point, ASU. Somebody is making a lot of money out of the whole thing, and that is so immoral. The problem is that we are so conditioned to listen to the culture of celebrity that the science gets ignored.
True. How did we get there? I mean, why do we listen to them instead of ourselves? Why do we think they know better than we do for ourselves?
Sadly, the media is to blame. They put celebrities on pedestals, when they are no different from the rest of us! It is easy to blame the 'liberal' press or the 'right-wing' press, but they are all equally guilty of selling out and promoting half-truths..

There is no global warming! Man didn't cause the ice age and if the temperature has went up .8 degrees in the last hundred years it is just a statistical fluctuation.
I personally think that we do not have nearly the accurate amount of evidence over the past 100-1000 years to really make a stab as to if the CO2 we're putting out is causing global warming. I was actually hoping that Sufidreamer would have an argument as to why CO2 hurts nature if its plants "air" so to speak. (Yes, I know that to much of a good thing is quite the opposite but when is to much to much). I understand your viewpoints on the matter Sufidreamer but I am currently 90/10 against global warming, going also with the corruption involved. Figures can be corrupted and since I havent been keeping track myself, I cant really trust people after the corruption that has occured. I have to agree with this hub. Man Made Global Warming is a hoax. And from numbers that are available in science books and are common knowledge the CO2 that is contributed by man is only 3% of the overall CO2 in the atmosphere, and in reality it isn't even a fact that it is the C02 that causes global warming becasue this hasn't been proven. Even on the IPCC assessment reports they state that 'Global Warming is very likely anthropogenic (man made)' They cannot say it is definitey man made because they cannot fully prove it. Yet, all these world governments are trying to change policies based on this assessment and affect economies and people's lives and it isn't even proven.
What's worse is that most of the 'scientists' that make up the IPCC panel are not even scientists, much less climate scientists, they are 'concerned citizens' that represent their nations. Man made global warming is only a theory based on numbers that don't add up; there are many more theories out there that are more plausible, but are not in energy indiustries' or governments' interest, because they are natural, so there's no government interevention that will supposedly prevent them. It's all about money and control.
And as it now turns out, according to NASA satellite findings and global weather (NOAA) reports it seems that there has been a cooling trend in the last few years and that the hottest temperatures in the last 100 years were in the years 1930's and 1990's respectively. Since '98 temperatures did not rise and actually seem to be declining. This would coincide with the sun cycle theory, which states that we are in a low sun activity cycle.
One way to control the masses is through alarmist hysteria but hopefully most people are smart enough tto not fall for this scam.

Did you all see that NASA finally admitted <faking> the data for November? They had said it was the hottest one on record. Later someone blew the whistle that they just copied October's temps and used them for November.

I also wrote a hub about the lies being told regarding man-made global warming. The UN document that received the Nobel Prize was written by 52 so-called scientists. Now hundreds of scientist have publicly disagreed with the UN's findings. Today an article on Yahoo states that global warming is far more dire than even the UN stated. The interesting thing about the article is the only person quoted in the article is one of the co-authors of the UN documents. I think they know we are on to them.The scare aren't working, there are far too many scientists speaking out. Hey Al I was born at night, but not last night.

CO2 does not harm the plants, and may actually enhance growth rates, although we may have to experiment with different crops to suit changing climates.
A couple of comments above nailed it on the head. Global warming and climate change IS happening. That is something agreed upon by 99% of scientists on both 'sides.' The argument is whether it is as a result of man-made emissions or not.
I personally believe that the real issue is often ignored. Global warming, climate change and rising sea-levels are inevitable, yet nobody seems to address this. Coastal communities and low-lying countries need to start preparing now, or Katerina will seem like small-fry. Sadly, a lot of the money spent on research into stopping man-made emissions should be diverted into preparing these communities for the rising sea-levels.
If the stimulus bill includes public works, improving the sea-defences around New Orleans would be a good start!

well guys this is just the ideas of a grade 10 at school but really, if any thing we do contribute. not all, but we do face it, yes the earth does fluctuate quite a bit. but we also have to think, we are not killing the earth as every one says on the new2s and what not but we are killing our self, fact we do realese carbon dixoide into the atmosfear but thats not what i am talking about i mean we have become so compeled to produce that we take many other countrys for granted like mexico. the air there is almost hazordes for humans to breath. but also guys one of two things may and probly will happen 1. we kill our selfs off or 2 we get wiped out like the dinosores. because in the end we have been here for idn i think from what they teach me in school over 5000 years but the earth has been here for billions of years. we are not the end of the earth we are the end of our self. then somthing else more inteligent will take over after us its the circle of life. all we are doing is messing our selfs over more come on government yes or no do somthing or not

I found this site trying to get information on "GLOBAL WARMING." Im trying to get all three sides of this argument. Yes there are three sides. One is ,the easy one, for global warming meaning they agree with the gases destroying the ozone. Number two is this page which says that the gases have nothing to do with that and that its the water vapor. I think they both have truth to them but they also have lies in them which give their AGENDA more backing. And the third is the one I agree with is that the earth changes temperatures from time to time and is not drastically changing either way. Its called Summer and Winter and most scientists are trying to make it worse than it is.
You have to be the most naive person in the world to believe that snow is a tell all sign that global warming does not exist. In fact, when there is more snow, that means there is more water that had evaporated into the atmosphere, which is a direct cause of global warming. More rain and snow in some places, and drought in others.

A few comments.
First, the mistake that affected the GISS temperature data was just a clerical error, not any kind of "fakery." (After all, if they wanted to "fake it," they would have made up new numbers, not re-posted the old ones.) And the numbers affected were only preliminary, meaning they hadn't been through the full data quality control process yet.
Second, the science warning us about the danger of excessive greenhouse gas emissions is much wider, deeper, and more mature than most people imagine. (For instance, see my hub on "The Science of global warming in the age of Napoleon," or its successors.) Better yet, check out Spencer Weart's site, "The Discovery of Global Warming." It's beautifully done, and tells the scientific story in a very comprehensive, yet understandable, way.)
Third, while it's true that Carbon Dioxide is "heavier" than water vapor, the difference isn't great enough to make it sink as you suggest. It's like a complicated "shooter"-type drink--the ingredients have slightly different densities, so if they are poured carefully enough, you can have eye-pleasing layers of differently-colored liquids. But a slight shake or stir can destroy the layering in an instant.
Similarly, normal winds are more than enough to thoroughly mix all atmospheric gases--luckily, since we need normal levels of the greenhouse effect to have a planet warm enough to live on. It's also lucky because oxygen and nitrogen have different molecular weights, too--so if the atmospheric gases stratified as you suggest, we'd be breathing pure oxygen and having terrible troubles with fires breaking out constantly.
More generally, thinking for yourself also involves seeking out and evaluating the available information. (And much of what you present in this hub is not, I'm sad to say, correct.) For example, to verify my last paragraph, Google "molecular weight" followed by the names of various atmospheric gases. For good measure, Google the phrase "well-mixed gases," too.

A high-school kid could've come of up with all these reasons why global warming is a lie. "Look, it's snowing!" Ask yourself a few things:
If Global Warming is fake, what would be anyone's motive for trying to convince you that it's real? Do you think top scientists and government officials would spread lies for fun?

This website is such bullshit. Yes, the world is in a cooling cycle, but all that's doing is masking the effects of global warming. If not for that cycle the effects of global warming would be extremely catastrophic. Even with global cooling negating the effects of global warming, the 10 hottest years in HISTORY have been in the last 13 years. Watch "An Inconvenient Truth" and stop trying to make yourself feel safer from the world overheating by discrediting the scientists all over the world who have been warning us about it for years. You have no proof whatsoever that all the government data is fake. C02 levels are higher than they ever have been for millions of years almost by double, and guess when they started to rise? Right at the beginning of the industrial age, when humans started burning coal and gasoline rapidly. Here's some research, with how much CO2 we release from driving and coal can you honestly say that you thought there would be no consequence. On top of that there's there release of SO2, NOx, Mercury into the atmosphere. Even if we cant agree on global warming can we agree that we need to see the phasing out of Coal and Petroleum use.

I don't know whether or not global warming exists (it's too much of a controversy to tell without doing the research yourself in my opinion), but for all I can tell, it's either a scam or the mysterious truth.

Global warming has to do with GLOBAL AVERAGE RISING temperature, which is about 2 degrees a year. So you might get a record low in your redneck town, but in most places the temperature is average or above average.
I really feel bad for whatever idiot takes you seriously, and thinks that for some reason you are smarter than the worlds great scientists.

Great hub! I have never bought into this whole global warming thing. I saw Obama tell the miners that if they wanted to mine coal, to do it, but he would bankrupt them with fines for polluting the air. We have so many natural resources here and the government is not allowing us to use them. Therefore, we are leaning on the muslims for our oil. We are at their mercy because our on people lie to us. It's sad that people buy into everything the liberal mass media says. When did it happen that we stopped thinking for ourselves and let the government tell us what to think? You are so right! We need to wake up and think for ourselves.
