The Global Warming Debate is Over. Now what do we do?

The NY Times's David Leonhardt reports that the global warming debate is over in Washington and explains why "cap and trade" offers the best hope for a solution. Here's a link to his article in today's NYTimes, 3-28-07:

We do not need the scientists or the governement to tell us anything about global warmiong, what we need is to eliminate the greedy commercial giants those that deforestate this planet and you have the problem solved. I know what you will say now what about the motor car? the poluting factories? well the answer is again, the greedy giants, think about it.

Well, how do we do it? The "greedy commercial giants" seem to have a lot of influence over government policies and the passage of laws.

The majority of scientists believe that global warming is being caused by greenhouse gases which have accumulated in the atmosphere for the past 100 years since the beginning of the industrial revolution. The principal greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide released through the combustion of coal in electric power plants and by motor vehicles through the burning of fuels made from oil--gasoline and diesel.

Of course, natural factors beyond our control also affect the global climate--for example, variations in the energy released by the sun.

I agree with you, due to the industrialists, we are experiencing increasing environmental decline. I believe a very good starting point is the fact that global warming is now acknowledged as a problem. The second step would be identifying how to control the problem, perhaps through the recycling programs being started by some major companies.

It's a start, but more needs to be done.

I am from India.

The politicians who deny that global warming is a problem used to be the biggest obstacle to a solution. They have lost the argument.we,the common people have to come to fight against global warming as soon as possible. But we need money.plzz help us...
