Glowfish
61As a true fish lover, I am always on the prowl for great new fish to add to my tank. When I came across Glowfish, they were my new favorite instantly. These colorful fish totally brighten up my tank and I didn’t have to shell out a ton of money! These colorful beauties come in three awesome colors- red, green and orange.
1800glofish.com sells full aquarium kits, making the transition for you and your new pet a breeze. The kit includes a 1.5-gallon tank, 3,6, or 9 Glofish and 24 LED lights that make the fish really glow. The black and blue LED lights in the aquarium kit really highlight the fluorescence.
Once bred for detecting environmental pollutants, these stunning zebrafish are now the center of attention in classrooms, offices, homes and dorm rooms all over the country. An extra protein gene in the fish is what gives them their fluorescence. Each baby glofish inherits its brilliant color from its parents and gives its color to its offspring.
When I got my first 3 Glowfish, I was so excited to finally have my fish I just wanted to fill up the tank and pour my new fish right in, but I found these Getting Started tips that were really helpful. Check them out:
• Always try to avoid severe temperature change and long travels.
• When adding fish to a new aquarium, keep them contained in the plastic bag you got them in and float the bag in their new aquarium. This will enable the temp of the water in the bag to match the temp of the water in the aquarium.
• Let the bag float for a while (20-30 min). Then you should open the bag and add some of the aquarium water to it (just a little bit every ten minutes or so). This will help your fish adapt to the water in its new aquarium.
• After the fish has had enough time to get used to the new temperature, it can be released into the tank.
