What Is Glymetrol?
Glymetrol is an all-natural dietary supplement with a proprietary blend of herbs and minerals for maintenance of healthy blood glucose levels. Because Glymetrol contains a proprietary formula, the exact amounts(the secret formula) of each of these ingredients is not revealed. The ingredient listing can be found on their website: www.glymetrol.com (Click on Faq’s on top.) Or go directly to FAQ link by clicking here: http://glymetrol.com/allnatural%20glymetral%20faq.htm
Do the key ingredients in Glymetrol really work?
I’ll cover 2 of the key Glymetrol ingredients in this article:
Chromium Picolinate: Chromium is an essential trace mineral found in foods and supplements. It’s present in small amounts in many foods most commonly consumed in the U.S. The problem is, only about .4% to 2% of chromium is absorbed! Therefore, supplementing is a great way (and safe) get the chromium we need. The results of several randomized controlled clinical trials support the conclustion that supplementation with chromium sensitizes target tissues to insulin and contributes to the regulation of circulating glucose concentration. Supplemental chromium has been demonstrated to increase insulin sensitivity in 3 to 4 months in men and women both with and without hyperglycemia. Other double –blind studies show that chromium safely supports healthy glucoregulation and the maintenance of normoglycemia, by producing significantly greater decreases in mean plasma fasting glucose concentrations and increasing insulin sensivity and decreasing fasting plasma insulin concentrations. Even the FDA(August 25, 2005) has ruled that the daily consumption of supplemental chromium supports the maintenance of insulin sensitivity.
Salacia Oblonga: This is a woody climbing plant found in the forests of Sri Lanka and India. Extracts of its roots contain several compounds that retard the digestion of dietary polysaccharides and significantly decrease the efficiency of intestinal absorption of glucose. In 2 double-blind studies, taking Salacia Oblonga during a meal produced significant attenuation of postprandial insulin secretion and significant decreases in the efficiency of glucose absorption. In another similar test, subjects with Type 2 diabetes who consumed Salacia Oblonga during a meal high in carbohydrates produced significantly greater decreases in postprandial glucose absorption, peak plasma glucose concentration and insulin secretion, when compared to placebo. These reports indicate that the consumption of Salacia Oblonga during a meal supports healthy glucoregulation and the maintenance of normoglycemia.
I’ll cover the other key Glymetrol ingredients at a later time. In the meantime, if you have any helpful comments or feedback, please post here.
