Google has finally added the full emoticon menu for its Gmail and Gtalk services. Previously, Google only offered a small number of emoticons in the menu.

An emoticon is a symbol or combination of symbols used to convey emotional expression in message form. Gmail and Gtalk previously only had a small number of emoticons compared to Yahoo and Hotmail Messenger. Even adding an emoticon is work because you have to copy the emoticons and paste it in the messages.

Now Google has finally released more emoticons after repeated requests from its users to add more emoticons in both Gmail and Gtalk.

To use this feature, compose a new message and click the smiley icon, and you will see a number of emoticons that are both animated and static.

Gtalk also has this feature but it has less emoticons compared to Gmail.

Now you can write like a pro and write the following message in Gmail easily with this new and improved smiley feature.

I love using emoticons in messages. But I don't understand the message in the second picture. ;)

BeatsMe, the second picture is a funny one explained through emoticons. I don't know all of them but is sure funny. Some of the text message conversations I have with my niece is like this and I have a hard time following it :)

Bigpig. Thanks here is a brief summary about the icons.
