- The Idolatry Test
You might have read a recent hub of mine called The Cross Bearers where I was talking about what it means to bear a cross, why I wear one at times and what it means to me. I wrote it out of a discussion I...
When I read about Jesus and Judas as children, it really opened my eyes to how human Jesus and Judas were.
The Jesus most commonly recognized as the Messiah who died on the cross for our sins was a bit of a sinner himself. Was Jesus a murderer? That is one question you would have to read about.
If you want to know what Jesus did to the boy on the horse who reprimanded the child Jesus for not honoring the Sabbath, you will have to read about it.
The young Jesus also practiced a bit of mystic magic. Could Jesus really make clay figures of birds come to life or was it just made up?
In the Bible the only real tidbit of information we get about the young Jesus is when he is separated from his family and is found among the teachers listening and astonishing the teachers with his amazing ability to understand.
But what prompted Jesus? Was he a turtle on a fence post or was he "made" by God. Was Jesus being brought to Rabbi's for correction of his bad behavior or was he being led by God to preach at an earlier age to the Rabbi's?
So many questions about Jesus' missing childhood can be read about in the Gnostic Gospels of Jesus.
Did Jesus and Mary have a sexual relationship or was it purely spiritual? Was Mary really a gnostic or mother of Catholicism?
Did Jesus hurt Judas or did Judas hurt Jesus? Oh so many questions. Get it, read it, love it.

uh-oh spaghettio, the gnostic gospels contradict the concepts preached by the church and that will have people saying they are blasphemous. I think regardless of the historical accuracy of the bible or the gnostic gospels, people should first realize the message of Jesus. If they are okay with that, maybe they will see that the relationship between Mary and Jesus was a natural one where they got their freak on. The concept of Jesus being virgin and not having kids I learned came from the Catholic Church where the priests were becoming rich in the early centuries and then passing their wealth to their children. So they cut all the sex out(at least with women) and kept all the accumalation of land and money within the church. Even in the Jewish religion a man must take a wife, Rabbis have wives and that was Jesus's religion and he was a Rabbi and not a gay guy. The gnostic gospels clearly make Mary to be the top disciple, confidant, and partner of Jesus. But I don't think any less of a man who inspired common people to believe in being good, I do think badly of the governments and the religious organizations who have abused the message to suit their needs.
Also the message of Judas as conveyed by the gnostic is so different than what I was taught growing up. I suggest people see the Last Temptation of Christ. In the end, Jesus is cool and I think the truth only makes him better.
I think that too Goldentoad. He was a man in the flesh on this Earth and being so he had to be all that with the good and the bad. The way they depict Jesus is rediculous as history states that there were very different circumstances then. Joseph was a ship builder--not poor and Jesus could go anywhere he pleased. He didn't need anyone's money so thereveroe why should anyone that he called as a friend--they were asked to leave everything they had behind---becasue he could give them whatever they wanted or needed. He was rich, not poor.
You have to aks yourself or those of religions --why are the gnostics blasphenie and why is a samll sect so right? They are hiding the truth and that is all. They want their money and they hide the truth to get it. I will be blasted for this, I know, but the truth is the truth.
Jesus came to tell us one thing--Love One Another..and that is cool!
The only sin is suppression of Knowledge.
Lady Guinevere, I'll take those blasts with ya. I expect a ton of bible verses to be thrown at us but that's okay, as long as they're not throwing rocks.
I have been called all kinds of nasty names on the forums here, and on some hubs as well. Sometimes I just have to step away and recoup--that is what I am doing now......focussing on writing some new hubs that don't contain anything religious!! Not at the moment though...
Hey Lady,
Great hub! Thanks. I read the whole Bible last year and this year I am determined to read all the Gnostic texts contained in the Gnostic Bible edited by Willis Barnstone and Marvin Meyer. It is 800 pages long because it includes all the Gnostic Texts of Mystical Wisdom from the Ancient and Medieval Worlds including Pagan, Jewish, Christian, Mandaean, Manichaenan, Islamic and Cathar. It is fascinating to synthesize these concepts into one vision of a God who is All Things.
i am sad that people live in fear and have to close themselves off from other wisdoms to make themselves feel more... important? special? what is it that makes groups isolate themselves? i am not sure. security?
Thanks LG, thought I would partake in the nasty name recieving as well. However I think that just suggesting a good read will sufice and if they want to call me names, then that is there choice.
You gave it a good run. I am glad you decided to take a little time off from being called names. You need some good quality time for youself. Hope you don't take too long though, you bring up interesting things and I like to see that people are reading (well...sorta) what you have to say even if they really don't like it. :)
goldentoad, Yes, I totally agree. I also totally love Mary in the gnostic gospels. I had no idea that when I started reading, how "science" and "philosophy" (which also helps me understand life and love Islmaic principals as well) played a huge role in their understanding which are two concepts that I am moved by and understand much better then the whip slashing and hail Mary's.
What might also be of interest to fellow hubbers reading the comments, is that a lot of the gnostic sayings are in the Bible too. And Gnostic teachings were around long before Christianity and even before Jesus.
Well it is near Christmas and i need to get things done too. Christmas Eve to that Monday after, I will not be here and as I have a laptop now---gave it a thought to taking it with me, but the better of me says to leave it at home and just enjoy family.
After relaxing a bit you bet I will be back!
Oh yes Storytellersrus, you also get a glimps of understanding about the Eqyptians as well and my ever so favorite, "the invisable spririt". The gnostic books are so much easier to swallow than the bible, though don't get me wrong, the Bible is a jewel as well and I like to read that too but not nearly as intriguing or entertaining as the gnostic gospels.
Cool LG, I think you made a good choice. I hope you have a happy christmas and be safe, don't drink and drive or let others drink and drive. Please don't try and capture any reindeers for free rides and most of all I hope you enjoy your special time your family. God Bless, Mary Christmas and Happy, happy, happy, New years too!!! xoxoxo
hear from you when you get back!
Sandra, I haven't left yet! lol lol lol
ha,ha,ha,ha,ha. Fine I take it back until you get the heck outta here. lol :)
Dear Sandra,
I stopped to believe that only truth is in the Bible, a long time ago, because with the help of that book minority manipulated majority of population. "Be good, poor and stupid, you will get haven after death. Believe in dogma, do not ask any questions. Live in the fear of God, you will be punished etc." God would never say that, but people would.Hmmm....
We all are who we say we are, we all are God`s loved children.
What I can feel about Jesus now, that he is blessed conscious energy. Like any saint or any God/Goddess from any religion. Peace and Love of our souls.
I will read the Gnostic gospels ass soon as I have spare time, thanks for tip and your very interesting Hub.
A lot of Love &Light
Do you really believe that Jesus as a boy made birds out of clay. Are you serious?
Ahpoetic,
Do you really believe that Jesus could raise the dead back to life?
God made people out of clay---now are you serious!?
Sandra- I am hesitant to say this since it may be considered as blasphemy by some people. And if it is blasphemy then please delete this comment. I saw a documentary where they were mentioning that Jesus spent seventeen years in India and Tibet from age thirteen to age twenty-nine. Once again I apologize if anything I said has hurt anybody's sentiments then please forgive me.
CW. The gospel that was written of those things is Saint Issa.
The only reason it is blaspheme would be a lie that the church has perpetrated. Now that will get some comments....
LOL, Lady Gueinevere!
Sure apoetic- you probably used to be a boy too who played with dirt.
Countrywomen- the only thing I consider blaspemy is "hating" on people, and I watched the same show. It acutally doesn't surprise me a bit, "Jesus a nomad" is pretty cool.
I think in Islam they also call Jesus, Issa. Which I think is a cute name, Issa. :)
Tajana-thanks for you beautiful sentaments, I believe just like you too, conscious energy and we are all loved by him. Certainly I could never figure out why "they" would go to great lengths to destroy his good name and deny people love. It is one of those things, whether it be political or religious propoganda or silly dogma and ritualistic practices to keep people in the darkages, that will never really make perfect sence.
Don't get me wrong, there are a number of christians out there that are good people who stand by the word of the bible but one thing is always different about them, that they walk the walk and wouldn't turn their backs or smite anyone on accounts of their beleifs.
Plus, I do think that religions have a lot to offer, it is just too bad that most of it is lost to fighting over things that don't need to be faught over. A Lot of Love and Light as well to you.
xoxoxox
I love you succession of hubs: flat irons - gnostic gospels - lobster :D
Werd Misha! That is the way roll. lol :)
Looks like life itself, you know :)
hair, spirituality, food. yeah, I think your right. :)
Sandra & LG- Glad you didn't take offense to it. Since I am non-christian I just have to be more careful when saying these things that's all.
Now worries countrywomen, I gave up trying to tip toe around others for two reasons; 1, I wouldn't ever get a word in edgewise if I didn't, and 2, I hardly say anything with the intention of just being mean, so when I did say something and someone else took offense to it, then I could say to myself that, wel...I guess I have a little more trust and faith in what I believe.
I am not a christian either just a believer in God (whatever God may actually be) life, love and trying to be good. :)
Hi Sandra
I've not read the Gnostic Scriptures, but I certainly plan to now that I've learned about them.
As LG knows from my comments on her hubs, I'm a firm believer in the love-thy-neighbour form of Christianity, and I believe that can have any number of forms, and doesn't in any way require a strict adherence to the letter and the word of the Bible. In fact I often wonder whether some of the hard-line Christians that post on these hubs are actually for real. Surely God is about love and light, not hatred and punishment! Go Girl! You spread the word!
Merry Christmas to you Sandra, and also to LG if she stops by. (Oh and you too Misha!)
Hey, thanks Amanda!
Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
Sandra- Another californian I adore now besides MightyMom & SweetiePie. I like your religion "life, love and trying to be good" I guess then we belong to the same fraternity.
Amanda- "love-thy-neighbour" is such a noble thing. Then it must be true when Gandhi said "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Please wish me Merry Christmas too or maybe you have distantly already hypnotized me to have a merry christmas...LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 EVERYONE. MAY WE ALL BE BLESSED WITH HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS. AMEN.
Aw shucks, thanks Amanda! Merry Christmas to you too. Yeah, I wonder about some of them as well but well, I guess that is just how it is. Yes, "Surely God is Love and Light, not hatered and punishment."
HUGS!!!
Hi CW,
If only I were that good a hypnotist (sigh!)
Happy Christmas you sweet girl. I hope it's a good one, and that Santa is kind!
Oh snap! CW, Merry Christmas, we all almost left you out of the Merry Christmas loop! woops!
That quote is one of my favorites, "I really like your Jesus, but I do not like your christians." Ghandi kicks ass, plus he could like kick it with grasshoppers and stuff.
Where you at in Cali?
Sandra- I visited California twice so far. Recently last month I was there. Gandhi did say it politely but firmly his beliefs. Thanks for your wishes ang glad to be part of the loop.
Amanda- I hope Santa is kind on me(P.S: I put in a request to our resident hub angel St.Misha for a box of Toblerone chocolates) You can try on me. I once attended a session and the hypnotist told me later that I can easily be hypnotized...LOL
CW I don't think it works via the written word, although I did try to make my hypnotism hub as trippy as I could manage (LOL!) Perhaps you should study it yourself?
Amanda- I learned Pranic healing and Reiki in which distant healing is mentioned (of course at advanced level). But I agree hypnotism is done more in person. I will study it now since I have the Master's(Amanda) blessings...hehe
LOL, do you think Alex Tribec is really that smart? :)
Hi Sandra,
Must be a cross-Atlantic thing. Who's Alex Tribec?
The host of Jeopardy! :) TV trivia game show, been around for 27 years. He is absolutly hypnotic. :)
I'll have to see if he's on youtube!
I can take Alex any day of the week!!!
TMG
Maybe you can take Alex, but I doubt you could be a challenge to me, muuhahahahhahah! (evil laugh)
Bing it, for there can be no Superman without Lex.
TMG
Oh it's on!!! Now all we need is a Louis, Countrywomen, you down? :)
CW, I can heal without touch and only with thought and meditation!! I know they call that reiki, but have never had any training. I have lots of other things that I can do that I have been blessed to have. Sandra and I have alot of things in commom (strong spirits is one :) ).
Amanda, Yes you and I agree on things too.
That is interesting you just said that LG. I like to call it "soul" power. :)
Soul Power.......hmm............I like that!!
Sandra- You can't put me down since now I am up for it. Btw I hope soul power is not your sole power but interested to see your whole power.
LG- I didn't know that I had a resident healer here. Now I know whom to turn to in my hour of need(Btw I do without strong "spirits" and settle for tea instead)...hehe
Thanks LG, I always appreciate a compliment from you anyday!
Awite C-Dub, since you are up, and wise to soul, sole, whole power, it is on fo sho!
I myself make an appointment with "strong spirits" every friday!!!
You are too funny and so clever. love it!
sandra! This is really a great one! I'm really proud of you. A really fine Hub and a lot of great responses. Rational people having a rational discussion. Nothing much better in the world.
What everyone needs to remember is that the bible contains the word of MAN, not god and I emphasize man intentionally. It has been edited, re-written and modified repeatedly over the centuries to push the agenda of a panoply of organized religions, all of them controlled by men. Very sexist. Very misogynistic.
Here’s to free will.
CW I never drink strong spirits. My body rejects then as soon as they get to my stomach. I have had this ability for a long time now. Perhaps I will see what I can do to Constant Walker and his ear. It couldn't hurt to try now can it? Too bad I couldn't help my neighbor about 2 years ago who developoed cancer of the mouth and died. It was his calling though and it was his way to leave this earth.
Anyway....
Sandra I will always be withyou and up to the challenge. It seems that the way that I get messages and then have to takie a break has been this way for a while,. I get all riled up and post alot and challenge people to use their minds and do as Jesus tells me and then I have to rest because I get nothing else for a while. Sometimes that is a day or a week and sometimes it is even longer, but it is a schedule andhe knows how much I can take and then lets me rest for a next go around.
Coldwarbaby, I like your thoughts and they do make alot of sense. Only thinkg is---we can see it and those that don't call us akin to their Satan worshippers or worse. It is hard around the forums to keep ones cool.
Turn the other cheek?
Sandra- I was waiting for you to get over the hang over after your Friday appointment.
To you Sandra I will always bow
whenever I received a little blow
my spirit happened to be a little low
sometimes getting your joke little slow
with your wit which is always on full flow
you manage to get on my face a big glow
LG- That was deliberate alternate word meaning for "spirit" from your earlier comment. I was just kidding...hehe
LG about you here is what I will extol
that you have one of the kindest soul
and never on anyone you are crying foul
working hard day and night like a owl
and striving very hard to reach that goal
so that people come out of their little hole
to accept everyone in the world as a whole
Countrywoman, that was a good poem! I do like it much. Thank You. Now i must be off to bed. Tomorrow is another day.
Cheers CWB! *cling of the cups* To men/women in good spirits! Salut!
P.S, I love the emphisis that it is word of man; but inside people such as yourself, is the word of God. love you cwb! Big hug!
LG, but of course, everyone needs a break and it is hard to keep your cool but I am grateful that you are one to recognize, rest, and be in good spirits! love you lady! xoxo
Countrywomen, OMG! Awesome poem, just for me??? *cheeks blushing*. I had been waiting for a man to write a poem about me, but I love this one! Thank you. I didn't know you were a poet as well as clever. hugs! xoxo
Sandra trying to be clever
is that kind of a lever
to which others tire never
making us friends forever
LOL, Cdub! I wish I had something for you. Lemme try.
Countrywomen is so very clever, a master of wit
I will challenge her never.
By and by, what has become is a fearless
friendship and a countless prize!
Sandra- Thanks and those words mean a lot. I really appreciate all the effort and wonderful lines for me. Btw where is LG? Hope you are having a great weekend. We are having lots of snow in seattle and sort of being in a house arrest now...LOL
LG went to bed already. :( Sea town eh. Shut up! I grew up in Everett. Small world eh? When you said house arrest, it sorta reminded me of my dear friend Anita who lives up there. God I miss her!
Give Seattle and "sup" from home girl in sunny sd. Is it actually snowing a lot in Seattle or just around? Anyways, still friggin cold and wet I bet. :) or :(
Yes it is very snowy out there. I shudder to even take my car out when it is that bad. I hope your friend is fine too. I stay in Bellevue not too far from Everett. Anyway gotta run to call up my parents who must be waiting for my call.
LOL girls, you are soooo cute together :)
Hello Sandra:
No one knows anything about this "Jesus." The NT wasnt available for public consumption for almost 300 yrs after this "jesus" alledgedly died. Jesus never wrote or spoke a word of anything written in the NT. It is a compilation of corrupted stories handed down for too many generations to be considered to be credible. It is just heresay at it's best. Even Roman history hardly mentions the existence of this Jesus. When "believers" say to me "Jesus said." I must reply, "for goodness sakes, do your homework." You are a follower, not a thinker.
There is no proof whatsoever that books about Jesus and Judas as children are real. 66 books of the bible tell us all that we need to know about Jesus and Judas. The 18 books of the apocrypha are by the popes who purchased their offices(ordained office) lived evil, drunken, sexually sinful lives, extorted money, made evil laws and papal decrees requiring penance not of God and didn't serve God at all. The apocrypha is of the devil. God is love and holiness and doesn't change, 1Peter 1;15-16, 1John 4:16, Rev 4:8. God hates evil. God loves you. You are precious to God and so is every person until they reject God for good. John 3:16-21. Psalm 139:1-18.

Thank You for writing this hub. As you know I have had my share of hatred and have sort of backed out for now. One other hubber is portraying that Jesus was poor---not true at all, His Father (not the one in heaven) was very rich. It is time for the truth to come out.
