God Of War: Chains Of Olympus | PSP Gaming Review
64God Of War: The Chains of Olympus takes a cue from Star Wars and offers us a prequel to the original release, taking us back, opening in Attica. Kratos has already been saved by Ares and is endlessly doing his bidding into perpetuity, and is helping defend the city from invading Persian forces. The action is thick and what we have come to expect from God of War and the new PSP handheld version does this franchise justice.
Using the maximum speed settings available on the PSP, the textures are phenomenal and equal PSP small screen to the look of the Playstation 2, it‘s larger cousin. The action quickly moves from Attica to Marathon, where the weakened sun god, Helios is unable to thwart Morpheus, the god of dreams. Morpheus is has sent the sandman to Greece where the nation is falling asleep in order to usurp Olympus tight grip on the country.
People that enjoy combat games will be pleasantly surprised with the tools of combat. Kratos, has the Blades of Chaos of course but also gains a demon genie known as the Efreet which is used to great effect, dispensing a wide blast radius, used to great effect and gaining more abilities as the game progresses. The Gauntlet of Zeus, a powerful punching glove, is however one of the best weapons used during the game.
God Of War: Chains of Olympus offers satisfactory amounts of bonus content after beating the game the first time. God mode opens up and more challenge modes are available that can be difficult for users that are not familiar with God of War or the PSP format.
God of War: Chains of Olympus in my opinion is one of the best PSP hand-held games offered up this year for the format. The game has enough new content and action to hold the attention of both long-time gamers and for those that are new to PSP games. Many people that have never played PSP versions of console games are initially disappointed with the format, but quickly assimilate.
Killzone was a one of my all time favorite console games for the PS2 and at first I was disappointed when Killzone: Liberation was first released. Console gamers soon learn to enjoy the format of the PSP and quickly realize that the PSP is another venue for our never-ending, all consuming desire for gaming.
God of War: Chains of Olympus is no different and should be an enjoyable gaming experience for almost all hardcore gamers. You can learn more about PSP gaming and how to download PSP games by visiting my blog.
