God can stop injustice, but is unrealized and scared.

A slightly different perspective

I see a lot of people throw around the word "god" as if talking about an all powerful being much like ourselves.

When people ask, "If god is good and all powerful, why does he let bad things happen to good people", I tend to believe they are asking the wrong questions because they mis-interpret the nature of god.

For me, "god" is what is. It is all that exists. We find "god" by reflecting upon what we perceive and what we are. As we open our perceptions, we find truth, and through truth, we find our true selves.

Unfortunately, we are often robbed of time and overly taught by others, unwilling or unable to look within ourselves for the truth of things. We come to believe that we are seperate from our fellow beings, seperate from the land, and seperate from god. By our own unwillingness to open our eyes wide, we become destroyed for lack of knowledge.

"god" is the spark of divinity within each and every one of us.

The idea of "god" as some kind of individual, much like ourselves, but all powerful and all knowing, is something we are taught, not something that is necessarily true. There are plenty of passages in most religions that could mean a variety of things...and yet we allow ourselves only to consider the particular one taught to us.

I do not speak of "god" in the sense that organized religions do, and have a sneaking suspicion that people are taught to think god is external to themselves so that some men might lead others to ignorance and control them.

Anywise, with that brief discussion on an alternative idea of "god", let me proceed to answer the asked question as well as I can in a limited space.

Why god does not stop injustice.

Being an internal idea, god can only stop injustice to the extent that we, ourselves are willing to oppose all forms of injustice both towards ourselves and others.

As one delves deeper within oneself and comes to see the truth that it is in our best interest to be just to others and defend others as if they were ourselves, we find a limitless source of determination from which we can draw. A bedrock, if you will, which provokes us to stand up in the face of injustice.

To the extent that we allow ourselves to remain comfortably ignorant of various truths which would be obvious if we closely scrunitized them, we allow injustice to flourish. By willingly associating with those who are unjust to others, we visit that which is unjust to ourselves and those around us.

To the extent that we refuse to be unjust, refuse to associate with injustice, and stand firm against those that would assail that which is just, we spread justice and help to stamp it out. The man who is unjust, if shunned by all others, will soon consider acting just. As a man acts just, he becomes just.

Injustice visits us as a people because we somehow think "just us" and not "justice". To the extent we are just, we tend to change our internal frequencies and call others who are just to ourselves as well.

In a very real sense, there is only injustice because we refuse to acknowledge our own divinity and let it empower us to act.

Fear quashes ones inner voice

Fear is one of the things that stops us from using our inner voice to stamp out justice where we find it.

We are intimidated by purported authorities whether they call themselves teachers, professors, judges, presidents, kings, or otherwise. We fear what they might do to us and so we keep quiet, allowing unjust actions to be carried out against others because we did not opt to stop them when carried out against us.

If they say things that seem untrue or do things that seem unjust, all too often we do not question what is said or done. Because we fear being seen as "stupid", "ignorant", or otherwise, we become ignorant. As we embrace ignorance, we lose our own divinity and become unable to recognize injustice that is plain on its face.

The strength of our convictions and the truth of our vision radiate energy, which draws those of like energy levels together.

When we refuse to step past our fears, ask hard questions, speak horrible truths, and treat all people as we would treat ourselves, we promote the growth of that which is unjust, even if we do not act in an unjust manner ourselves.

By fearing to question unjust authority, stand up for the weak who are faced with injustice, and willfully dealing with those who are unjust with others, we drift from our own divine spark and destroy ourselves.

Of course, if you believe that god is humanoid with a will of "his" own, then you may not find this of much help.

Most would call me an atheist. I consider myself more of a deist or naturalist.

Have you ever considered genesis in terms of a baby being born into the world rather than earth being created? The bible is full of alternative meanings if one opens ones eyes wide enough to see them.

For example, "give unto ceasar that which is ceasars" begs the question:

  • Is something ceasar traded away his because it has his likeness upon it?
  • If so, are all $1 federal reserve notes george washingtons?

Maybe Jesus was telling his diciples that indeed they should not pay any taxes at all as ceasar had no right to the fruit of their labor. Of course, a 501c corporation registered with the government and tax exempt so long as it stays clear of certain subjects would never steer one wrong...

Fear of questioning what one is told is turning ones face from god by failing to seek truth.

Very well put. I've always felt that, if God was some all knowing, all powerful guy, he would have much better things to do with his time than worrying about me getting laid without his permission.

Looks like I have stumbled upon the god within you or the god is everywhere religion. Can't help it but: Really all the same old idolatry practiced 2-6 thousand years ago dressed up in new age garb. The god within Shirley McClain movement and getting in touch with one's inner god self was the religion that Satan himself promised Eve when he said "Ye shall be as gods..." And the [god is everything] movement is a remake of ancient Pantheism"that worship and serve the creature more than the Creator" If god truly is everything he is a meaningless actual nothing, If there is no sovereign creator then all that remains is chaos which our anarchy friend probably thinks is cool. As for the problem of bad things happening to "good" people. That really is not a problem because the Scripture is very clear about the virtue of man when it proclaims "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." and that "there is none righteous , no not one". So from His viewpoint there actually are no "good" people. Hard pill to swallow but as we look around at our fellow man it is not hard to understand why many folks prefer a tree over a human being. But God did not leave us hopeless He sent His only Begotten Son to suffer, die and resurrect so that we also can overcome the grave. "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved."
