Golf Swingyde

I have been playing golf for a couple of years now but to a very poor standard use to the infrequency I visit the course and golf range which prevents me from getting the practice that I really need and developing the correct habits.

Fortunately, I was at the golf range last week and I ran into a friend of mine. He mentioned that he had recently bought a Swingyde golf training aid and asked me if I wanted to try it out. I was a little reluctant as it was a small piece of yellow plastic and I had spent quite a lot over the past year on coaching and other various swing aids but I thought, well why not, what do I have to lose?

So, I had a few practice shots then I took the discreetly coloured yellow Swingyde and attached it to my club. The idea is that it fits on to the club so that it is perpendicular to your body when you are standing ready to hit the ball. As you bring the club up to the top of the swing, the elastic band pulls the Swingyde towards the golf club and it sits down against your forearm. This locks you into position and helps to keep the arms in position for the downswing. This sounds very simple, and it really is, but the first couple of practice swings I took really didn’t feel particularly natural. I initially tried a practice swing with the club with attaching the elastic band, but I ended just concentrating on getting the Swingyde to sit onto my arm that I my swing was all over the place. Once I had attached the elastic band onto the end of the Swingyde I was able to relax and let the Swingyde do all the work.

So, on to the video! Well, you can see form my initial efforts, I’m no Tiger Woods! My practice swings are fairly poor and I am lucky to get one decent strike out of the lot of them. This is my typical game and so I was really desperate to get some help from anywhere so if the Swingyde was going to help improve my golf game then I wasn’t going to argue.

My first attempts at using the Swingyde golf training aid

After attaching the Swingyde to the golf club though, there was a slow but sure transformation! One a false start later and I managed to produce a couple of award winning shots (well, I would award myself a medal for them). The amazing thing was that it was only a matter of minutes since I had attached the Swingyde to my golf club! I was hooked, the next hundred balls were all hit using the Swingyde and it was a great feeling to be finally getting on top of my golf game!

After that revelation, I went out and bought myself my own Swingyde and spent the next few weeks using it every night to practice my swing. The Swingyde can still be used as a training aid even when you don’t have room to actually hit the ball. Simply practicing your swing with the Swingyde attached to your golf club encourages you to develop the habit of keeping the arms and wrists in the correct place and maintaining the perfect swing so that when you do get back on the course you just remember what to do!

The Swingyde has absolutely transformed my golf game and it could do the same for you.
