Going To A Concert? How To Prepare
77
I'm going to see The Fray later tonight and that's why I'm writing this. I want to share some tips on how to prepare yourself for a concert. Most of us are probably interested in music. Not probably, we all are. We all have our favorite songs on our iPod and we listen to them whenever we want to. It doesn't matter if you're into rock, pop, metal, hip hop, country, folk and etc. This is one thing we all have in common - our love for music.
We are all fans of some artist or band. Some are even hardcore fans like me with U2. I just wish I had the money and the opportunity to see them live this year. I was actually close to closing a ticket deal until someone beat me for those tickets at eBay. What a disappointment, that is. Anyway, what I want to share right now are tips therefore, I won't ramble on and on here. Isn't it funny that it seems like I'm just talking to you right now? Oh, I don't know. I'm here again rambling.
I must say, if you've only been invited to a concert don't hesitate if you've got nothing better to do. If you're not a fan, you can still go. That's why I'm sharing these tips with you. And look, you might like the band after all and enjoy their music. Give it a try.
At concerts, we all want to enjoy the great music that we love and the people that we are with. However, it's not just about listening and hanging out. You're actually there to participate, meaning, you have to sing along. It's always fun to join the whole audience in singing the band's anthems. Like I said, I'm going to The Fray concert at Irvine, CA later. I'm not a hardcore fan but I'm sure I can sing along. Sing along to their popular songs like "How to Save a Life" and "You Found Me."
Now, Here are some tips that I want to share so you could prepare yourself to a concert.
Let's Begin...
1. Know the band. That means you actually have to know the band that you're going to see. This means, you actually have to listen to their popular singles and albums. If you're not a fan and was only invited to go, familiarize yourself with that band.
2. YouTube, MySpace, Facebook. If you don't have the band or the artist's albums or songs, just go on YouTube or on social networking sites. I prefer YouTube because you get to see shots of live events that will give you some idea on how the band interacts with the audience. You'd also get some idea on responding to the "pumping up the crowd" moment. For U2, let's say they're about to play the song "Vertigo," you'd yell with Bono the words: "Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce!"
3. Lyrics. You have to know the lyrics. I have to say that you must prepare yourself days before the event. Listen to the songs and read through those lyrics. If you don't have much time, focus on the chorus. I'm not saying that you should know the lyrics to all of the band or artist's songs. This is just so you can join in with the audience while they sing along. Watch that Fray video up there. It's quite fun to sing along, isn't it?
4. Tickets. If this is a very big important concert in your life, save the tickets! Whether it's a print at home ticket or the actual ticket. I know you're gonna bring it to the concert because you need it, of course. But make a copy of it. Take a picture of it. These are all for memories. You never know, you might lose your tickets because you're enjoying the show way too much. (Which is good, to enjoy the concert)
5. Clothing? Don't worry about it. Just be appropriate. Wear shirts that says the name of the band or the artist. Or if it's a formal concert, be formal then. This is just actually common sense and just that sense of comfort. You want to be comfortable yet looking like you're about to rock the house too. Don't worry too much about this. If you're going to let's say, a Def Leppard concert, look like you're going to it! Don't wear the opposite style of the venue.
6. Schedule. I really don't have to say this but I think I should. Be sure of the time of the concert. Plan your route, your time, and everything. Even eating. If you wanna save up some money, don't eat at the venue. Food is not that good there anyway, just eat somewhere. Before or after the concert. It's up to you. Also, if you have general admissions ticket, you have to be there early. For U2 concerts, believe it or not, people actually camp out. You know this, you've been to those kinds of things.
That's actually it. Enjoy the show. Sing along and don't be afraid to sing your heart out. It doesn't really matter if you're not in tune. Many people just blend but it doesn't mean that all of them are in that same tune. Some are great singers though, but don't be intimidated. You're there to enjoy the show and not to worry about what other people are going to say. You don't even know them.
Enjoy!

Enjoyed your hub. I've been to several concerts. My favorite was Billy Joel, back in the day.
