Introduction

Golf balls are the biggest "consumable" item in the game and one that you will probably be buying on a continuing basis.

Golf balls are generally white, but are available in other high visibility colours , which helps with finding the ball when lost or when playing in overgrown terrain.

Golf balls are generally two-piece or three-piece, which is the number of materials that make up the exterior and interior of the golf ball.

The premium manufacturers of mens golf balls are Callaway Golf, Titleist, Maxfli, Srixon, and Nike, while good value golf balls can also be found from lesser known manufacturers.

Golf Balls:

Golf balls have evolved into having cores of hybrid materials, titanium compounds, softer shells and a better pressurized core.

This design allows manufacturers to fine-tune the spin, length and "feel" uniqueness of the golf ball.

Dimpled balls fly farther than non-dimpled balls for two important reasons.

1) The deeper the dimples the heavier they are ,which allows them to maintain momentum.

2) Golf balls with deeper dimples maintain a thicker "envelope" of still air around them which reduces wind resistance and turbulence.

While all golf ball manufacturers claim that their balls are the best, and also fly the longest and straightest, is really boils down to the golfer swinging the club.

Price:

Used golf balls lack performance and they may have imperfections or may not be the best choice for your swing.

There are several different grades of used balls that will determine the price you pay.

Used golf balls vary greatly in price, from 15 cents a ball to only a couple dollars under the new price, making it cost effective for the new golfer.

Conclusion:

The condition, type and brand are just a few of the factors that determine the price.

Used golf balls can save you money, but at the price of performance.
