The sport of golf has been around for a long long time, and is considered by many to be one of the most superior sports of all of them. There is a long history of tradition and fair play that goes along with the sport, and it hasn't changed all that much from all those many years ago when it started. One thing that has changed the sport however, is the introduction of the golf cart. Golf carts were invented around the 1940's and have been steadily gaining popularity ever since. They have also received a fair amount of criticism from people who have a more traditional (and some may say old fashioned) view of the game. Golf has always been recognised as a great form of exercise, as you would end up getting a decent amount of walking in by the end of eighteen holes. The introduction of the golf cart changed all this.

That said, the general consensus is that the golf cart is a good thing. One great benefit that I can see is that it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the disabled. For people that did not have use of their legs, or were unable to walk long distances, golf just was not an option. Now, with the use of golf carts, these people can enjoy a game of golf like everyone else. Another benefit of the golf cart is that it speeds the game up. Golf is becoming a more and more popular past time every year, and the average golf course on a weekend can be quite a crowded place. With people using golf carts, they can get through eighteen holes in a fraction of the time it would take if you were to do it by foot. This frees up the course for more people.

There are two main types of golf carts that you can get electric (or battery) powered, and gas powered. The electric powered golf carts are by far more popular. In fact, the majority of golf courses don't allow gas powered carts, because of the noise and the damage they can cause to the course. Electric powered golf carts are much safer for the environment, and cheaper to run as well. An electric carts batteries can be recharged at a cost of about $2, and this will last you anywhere up to 30 miles of travel.

Why Buy a Golf Cart When You Can Hire?

Most people will simply hire a golf cart for the day from the golf course, and there are great benefits in doing this. You don't have to worry about transportation of your cart, it is fairly inexpensive, and if something goes wrong with the cart, it is up to the golf course to fix the problem. That said, there are many people who play golf as a career more than a hobby. These are the people who will be taking advantage of golf carts for sale. If you are playing golf 4 or 5 days a week, the cost of renting a golf cart every day can be fairly steep, and in this situation it will be well worth your while to buy one outright.

As you probably know, golf courses aren't the only places where golf carts are used. The elderly have found these machines to be extremely useful to them, especially in a retirement home situation. Retirement homes are usually designed in such a way that everything is fairly easy to access, but if an elderly person wishes to make a quick trip down to the store, a car is not always the best option. A golf cart, on the other hand, is very inexpensive, easy to operate, and simple to drive. They are fast becoming the transport of choice for many elderly and disabled people, and it is this demographic who will benefit most from being able to purchase a golf cart.

So where can you find golf carts for sale? Well, because of their popularity, there are many dealerships that now specialise in just golf carts and nothing else. Because of the extra competition in the marketplace, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to find a cheap golf cart in good condition. Another thing to keep in mind is that golf courses upgrade their carts on a regular basis, and you can get a second hand cart quite easily. Just be careful when buying second hand that you know how old the cart is, and make sure it is mechanically sound. You can buy golf carts online, but I would urge you to be cautious when doing so, as it is hard to determine the condition of a cart without giving it at least a visual inspection, if not a test drive.

I love golf carts, just cruised around and did 18 yesterday in a silent electric one that had plenty of zip on the hills. Good times!
