While every club is different, some aspects can be regarded as similar wherever you go. Remember, many golf courses will refuse to allow you to play if you are not dressed appropriately. This is not only embarrassing but can be an awkward problem if you are barred from playing simply because there was some communication regarding clothes to be worn.

Several things about men and boys are unwelcome on the golf course. The two most universal are concerned with shirts - any shirt worn by a player must have a collar and sleeves. The next things are wearing jogging pants or shoes with metal spikes.

Clothes with displeasing logos or repulsive slogans on them are not allowed too. Additionally wearing jeans or sandals are not allowed, even for women.

Men can wear shorts however or fitted pants and any shirt they wear must have a collar plus foot ware must consist of sports or golfing shoes. If you are wearing golf shoes, ensure that they are soft spikes and are not metal spikes - most courses will not permit metal spikes on the green due to the damage that they can cause. When wearing a shirt, both long and short sleeved are permitted and if required a sweater that can be of the pullover variety or a turtleneck. You ought to wear ankle-length socks with as little or some good-looking logo and they must be in solid colors.

Women golfers should wear fitting shorts or skirts or even Capri's. No kinds of trousers including jeans shorts are allowed for women. For women, the length of the skirt or short is important and they ought to be cautious that these do not go up more than 5 inches above the knee. However each golf course is guided by its own specific rules and guidelines in the matter.

Women are also supposed to wear shirts with collars unless they have put on a pullover with a V-style neck design. However, a woman can wear a shirt that is completely sleeveless or have short sleeved (providing it has a collar). Other accessories that are allowed are ankle-length socks and athletic or golf shoes. When wearing socks, the same restrictions apply to those of the men. Not to bring the club into disrepute and to be fair, the same rules apply to any guest you may take along for a round. If you are unsure about your clubs rules on dress, give them a quick call or check out their website before you go.
